PARENT COMMITMENTS

As a co-op we have the following commitments to fulfill in order to keep costs affordable.

TEACHING

Not all parents are required to teach BUT in order to have classes for our kids to learn from, we have to have teachers.  We do realize that some parents are not comfortable teaching, especially in their first term.  We hope that parents would realize over time that teaching is not as intimidating as it sounds.  Your first term can be a time of getting acclimated to our co-op but if you are willing to try, we also would love for first timers to jump in.

Monday mornings are broken up into morning and afternoon.  We have 3 blocks offered in the morning and 2 blocks in the afternoon.  Every family is required to fulfill 2 morning classroom jobs and 1 afternoon classroom job whether this be teaching or helping.  Having one block off in the morning and afternoon gives moms an opportunity to visit in the Mom's Break Room.

MOM'S BREAK ROOM

The heart of our co-op is the Mom's Break Room.  This is a time get to know other families in our co-op who are on the same journey as ourselves.  We discuss everything from our children, homeschooling, husbands and whatever else the topic of conversation might be.  During this time we get to enjoy snacks that moms bring.  At our registration time we sign up to bring 2-3 snacks throughout the year.

CLEANING

Another aspect of being a co-op is the commitment to return the building in better condition then when we arrived.  We all share in that commitment by taking a small cleaning job at the end of the day (taking out garbage, vacumming, cleaning toilets, etc.).
