Membership Requirements and Guidelines

Membership demonstrates a willing heart to serve the group. All members are required to participate in co-op in a responsible manner. The success of our group depends on the cooperation and participation of our members. It takes all of us to make Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers run well.

Anyone seeking membership with Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers must acknowledge the organizations statement of faith. While we do realize that each family may differ in beliefs, anyone who will teach MUST do so from a biblical Christian worldview. You may not use or discuss your religious beliefs in the classroom, and especially not with another's child(ren), if they differ with that of the Statement of Faith. Members, especially teachers, must have an understanding of the basic Christian belief, and while none of us are perfect, we must strive to apply Christian values to their daily living. The Statement of Faith for Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers shall be:

I believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes His completed and final revelation to man. I support Biblical marriage as being between one man and one woman. I believe that God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus Christ was God in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, yet committed no sin. I believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and the central purpose of the incarnation of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead in triumph over death and Satan. I believe salvation is a gift of God offered by his grace and mercy and that I have accepted that gift.

1. AITWCH is open to families that are actively engaged in homeschooling and that are in compliance with the state of Missouri’s homeschooling laws. Homeschooling is defined as any schooling that occurs in the “home.” By requesting membership to AITWCH, you realize that AITWCH was started, and will continue operating, with a Christian viewpoint.

2. A $15.00 non-refundable fee per family is due at the time of website registration. You understand that by requesting a membership to AITWCH, you are doing so with the intent to participate from September until May. Website membership for each year will be renewed each February.

There is a $19.99 fee for background checks unless you are able to supply one completed from another agency within the past year.

Membership and additonal fees above and beyond registration may include field trips, special events, etc. or class fees for labs, textbooks, reading books, art supplies, etc. Class fees will be due at the time of sign-up. Field trip, special event, etc. fees will be due by specified due date. Children will not be permitted to attend their classes until class fees are paid in full. Please see the Director if other financial arrangements are necessary.

3. Each family will be assigned a specified task such as assisting in classes, room set up or take down, greeting people at the front desk, clean-up area (a specific classroom, bathroom, or hallway, kitchen, sanctuary, etc.), or other task as needed. These will be your family’s responsibility to complete. If there is more than one family assigned to an area, the responsibility is shared. Each job is important in the operation of the co-op. Faithful participation is very important to all of the families and the success of AITWCH.

4. There is no gossip, language or conversation that is not edifying to God. Do not speak ill of or put down other members and children. Parents and students are asked to speak and act in ways that are edifying to God and that promote unity and encouragement among AITWCH members. “Sowing discord” {Proverbs 16:16-19}, foul language, crude/vulgar language will absolutely not be tolerated. If you have a complaint or conflict, please address it directly.

Visitors

Families who are interested in attending AITWCH co-op are welcome to visit. They must schedule their visit with the board President. We also welcome guests to our field trips and special events, when there is space available.

Sickness Policy

We do realize that illness and unforeseen emergencies may arise. If this happens, it is YOUR responsibility to call the Class administrator before co-op to let them know you will not be there. It is the teachers’ responsibility to find a substitute for their class and see they have the required materials to teach the class. . If you have had a fever within the previous 48 hours prior to co-op or had to take fever reducing medications, we ask that you do not attend co-op for that day. We also ask that if anyone has had any vomiting or similar issues within the previous 24 hours to please not attend as well.

Dress code

In keeping with conservative Christian values, we ask that families honor the following dress codes when participating in our activities. Student clothing should be modest, no excessively tight and/or revealing clothing (not to include leggings), or see-through shirts. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must be at least mid-thigh length for all students. Please take these guidelines into consideration when selecting modest athletic wear as needed also. A student found in violation of the dress code may be asked to change into the proper attire or to leave the activity. We appreciate the parent’s role and guidance in this issue.

Conflict Resolution and Membership status

Please first pray about any conflicts/differences that arise. Most can be resolved with overlooking and forgiving the person who offended you. If God gives you peace over the issue, please move on and do not discuss it with others. After you have prayed, if you still feel the conflict/difference must be addressed, please use Matthew 18:15-20 as a standard for your resolution. You may discuss the issue with the executive board of Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers for the purpose of seeking counsel, but you should limit all other discussion to your spouse and the person(s) directly involved in the conflict. Membership may be revoked by vote of the Board for valid causes. These are as follows:

· Conduct that brings dishonor to Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers

· Conduct that is abusive, disruptive, or divisive to the group

Multimedia/Photo Policy

We request that members be respectful of individuals privacy and ask prior to taking photos or recordings. Arrows in the Woods Christian Homeschoolers cannot be held responsible for what other co-op members may do with their own photos/videos that they have captured.

If your local school district has cancelled when Waynesville ISD has not, it is an acceptable absence even though Learning Day may continue.
