What is the mission statement for HEN?

A:

The mission of the Homeschool Enrichment Network (HEN) is to give all homeschool students in Northern Michigan the opportunity to learn and grow in a positive group environment.

Is HEN a 501c3 non-profit?

A:

Yes, HEN was awarded their 501c3 non-profit status in the state of Michigan in January 2020.

Q:

What are the eligibility requirements for joining HEN?

A:

Any homeschooling family in Northern Michigan.

Q:

What are the member benefits?

A:

Membership offers families access to a comprehensive website that provides tools for making communication easier - i.e., e-newsletters, a community directory, and forums; as well as a robust event calendar with scheduled activities for students of all ages; and a weekly parent-led co-op.

What does it cost to join?

A:

The cost to join HEN is $25/family/year.  This covers website administration, insurance, and non-profit status renewal.

Do you need to join HEN to participate in the co-op?

A:

Yes.

Do you need to join the co-op to participate in HEN?

A:

No.

Q:

Is there a separate cost for the co-op?

A:

Yes, the Spring 2021 outdoor co-op at Silver Lake Recreational Area is $50/family.  This covers the pavilion rental fees and insurance. 

Some classes might have additional class supply fees - these will be identified in the class schedule.

Can you tell me more about the Fall 2021 Co-op?

Welcome to the Fall 2021 Co-op!

Here are some relevant details pertaining to the Co-op.  Once you are ready to register - please complete the form for each of your students.  An invoice should be automatically sent to you.  Please make sure to only pay one invoice for the family!

Registration Deadline:
August 15th, 2021

Who is eligible?
Open to all HEN members (Join at MiHEN.org for an annual fee of $25/family)

Who teaches the classes?
100% volunteer led – parents either teach/co-teach one class or assist in two classes

Where is it located?
Interlochen Elementary School

When will classes be held?
Wednesday September 15th-December 8th, 2021 (no class November 24th)
Class Times 10-10:45a, 11-11:45p, lunch, 12:15-1:00p, 1:15-2:00p

What does it cost?
Semester Fee $50/family (additional class supply fees may apply - amounts will be disclosed in the class schedule)

What type of classes will be offered?
Fun classes meant to allow our kids to learn in a safe and collaborative environment (i.e. nature hikes, strategic games, sports and field, story and craft, etc.)

What age groups?
K-12th Grades (Pre-K classes available for siblings)

What is the mask policy?
Mask-optional

What are the important dates?
Signup deadline - 8/15; Class schedule available - 8/20; Class signup - 8/23 @ 10am; Class fees due - 9/1; Classes start - 9/15; Holiday break - 11/24, Classes end - 12/8
