Mrs. Alicia Thomson To All Instructors
Mrs. Thomson grew up in small town Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1999 with a B.S. in Psychology, with aspirations to pursue graduate studies in research. In 2000, she enrolled at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., graduating with a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. Shortly after beginning graduate studies, she became a born again believer in Jesus which changed the trajectory and “plans” she had for life, opting for God’s plan instead!
Mrs. Thomson has been homeschooling for 13 years and has taught various homeschool classes at local co-ops, including teaching high school level American Sign Language (ASL) courses for the past six years. She considers it a joy to teach ASL as the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community is one of the largest unreached people groups in the world.
She lives with her husband of 20 years with whom she co-leads a Sunday School (Bible) class for Deaf people. She has a son in college, a daughter ready to fly the nest, and is nearing the end of her homeschooling journey with her youngest daughter. In her spare time, you can find her with a good book and tea, enjoying a good conversation, jogging, walking or hiking in nature.
