Senator DIck Black To All Instructors
At 21 years old, Senator Black became one of the youngest Marine Corps aircraft carrier-qualified pilots, flying 269 combat missions in Vietnam and later receiving the Purple Heart for injuries received during bitter ground combat with the 1 st Marine Division. He put his life on the line for America and continues fighting for her in the political arena today.
After a career as an Army JAG Officer, he was appointed to the Loudoun County Library Board where he was embroiled in a battle to keep pornography out of libraries. That clash launched a 16-year career in the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate. Senator Black was an outspoken Christian who passed 217 bills including Parental Consent for Abortion, which saved 3,000 babies a year, earning him the Northern Virginia Legislator of the Year award from the Family Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Conservative Caucus.
Senator Black has been married to his wife, Barbara, for 56 years. He not only wrangles political snakes but he also enjoys catching real ones. Snake hunting and taking walks are two of his favorite activities.
