Mrs. Kate Grefenstette To All Instructors

Mrs. Grefenstette has been a Registered Dietitian for over 15 years, helping the Northern VA community maintain health and wellness through their relationship with food. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise with a subsequent master’s degree in Nutrition Education from Virginia Tech. After completing her dietetic internship and passing the Registered Dietitian licensing exam, she began her career as a clinical dietitian at Prince William Hospital. After serving as Clinical Nutrition Manager at Inova Loudoun Hospital, she worked briefly at a local outpatient eating disorders clinic as well.

Mrs. Grefenstette is not only interested in one's nutritional health but truly values pursuing health for one's whole being.  She tackles anything life may offer with genuine curiosity and a focus on how to improve, prevent and prepare for the bumps in the road. This natural desire to improve one's overall quality of life through a holistic approach has led her to form valuable relationships with experts in a variety of fields. She is excited to bring them to HEARTS and hopes to inspire others!

While health and nutrition is her passion, being a mom to her two beautiful daughters is her greatest accomplishment. She counts herself privileged to have the opportunity to homeschool full-time, learning alongside her girls. While homeschooling, she wanted to keep her toe in the proverbial nutrition waters and started her own private practice, Taste and See, RD, through which she is often called upon for nutrition consults via friends and/or former colleagues. Mrs. Grefenstette firmly believes that food is God’s gift to us and that we are called to enjoy it and steward it well...to “taste and see that [He] is good” (Psalm 34:8).

She has been married to John for 16 years and she and her family attend Reston Bible Church. In her free time, she likes to read, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and spend time with friends and family.
