Rev. David Barton To All Instructors

As founding pastor of two local churches, Temple Baptist and Heritage Baptist, Pastor Barton has served our community for over 45 years. He retired from pastoral ministry in October of 2020, but is looking forward to continuing God’s work both within the community and within our HEARTS family. He joins us to share his passion for a Christ-centered education, deep understanding of our nation’s history, and knowledge of biblical history and how it applies to both our past and current day. His desire for a Christ-centered education is evident across his decades of ministry; he served as head master at two Christian schools, one of which he founded.

In his spare time, Pastor Barton enjoys cycling and travel. In fact, during his “younger years,” he covered more than 17K miles around our great country, which included some hitch-hiking adventures and time walking in the very footsteps of Lewis and Clark. He and his wife are continuing their active lifestyles with many visits on the W&OD trail, as well as traveling.

Pastor Barton attended Moody Bible Institute where he completed the Pastor's Course, followed by a BA in Bible from Bryan College. He then completed Seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he received his Master of Divinity. Through both his education and life experience, he hopes to make the subjects come alive and for students to see God’s hand in both our past and our futures.
