Bob Petty is a professional Scout and Basketball Skills trainer with over 20 years of coaching experience. He is a Pro-Scout for the TBL (The Basketball League), helping proven players earn prestigious contracts. He is now eager to use this experience to bless the Thrive community. Working with Bob this year, we proudly introduce Riley Minjares, pictured here. Here's a word from Riley:

Hello parents and students!

My name is Riley Minjares , and I’m beyond excited to be stepping in as your new basketball coach for this semester! I’m taking over for the amazing Coach Bob, who has had a huge impact on my life. Over the years, Bob and I have built a close relationship, and I’m so grateful for all the wisdom he’s shared with me. I look forward to continuing the incredible work he’s done with the students and can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.

A bit about me – I played basketball for four years at San Marcos High School and was also part of San Diego's premium AAU team with Coastal Elite. I have since had the opportunity to coach several AAU teams in the North County area. I also have experience in youth ministry, which has deeply shaped my coaching style. I studied at Life Pacific University, where I further honed my passion for helping young people grow both as athletes and as individuals.

I’m so excited to meet all of the students this semester and get to know each of them. My goal is to create a positive, energetic, and supportive environment where the students not only develop their basketball skills but also build character, teamwork, and confidence. I truly believe this semester is going to be filled with growth, fun, and lots of memorable moments!
