FAQs

Q:

What is the Psalm 91 Homeschool Co-op?

A:

We are unabashedly a Christian co-op which includes families from all denominations of the Protestant Christian faith. Ps91 Co-op exists to provide educational support and friendships for parents and their children.

Psalm 91 is a promise of God's shelter for those of us dwelling with Him. We pray that in our obedience to homeschool and raise our children to know/build a relationship with God, with the intent to lead them to choose Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that God shelters and protects all of the co-op families and the co-op itself under His wings.

Our Statement of Faith, Handbook and teaching reflects historic Protestant beliefs. We do ask the member parents to sign in good fath to fully agreeing with our Statement of Faith, Handbook and commitment to teaching our children solely Protestant Christian beliefs.

Q:

Do I have to agree to the Psalm 91 Homeschool Statement of Faith to join your co-op?

A:

Yes and it goes deeper than just agreeing with the Statement of Faith. It is a commitment that will be more fully assessed upon membership to Psalm 91 Co-op.

Full commitment to the Statement of Faith and Handbook expectations is imperative for all families to be on the same page about what is taught in the classes and the overall values we are guiding our children toward. We ask for your complete honesty in this area. We understand that we all come from different Christian denominations and may vary in how we live out our faith, but Protestant basic tenets are the biblical foundation we abide by in our co-op. View our Statement of Faith HERE

Q:

When does Psalm 91 meet?

Spring classes usually run from the 2nd Wednesday of February to the end of April (with Holy Week off from classes). Families are welcome to stay for lunch and fellowship on most co-op days until about 1pm (as long as there is someone to stay and lock up the building).

Q:

How often does Psalm 91 meet?

A:

We meet for 11 weeks in the Fall semester and 11 weeks in the Spring semester, with a break from Thanksgiving through January. In Summer, Moms coordinate meet up/hang out days.

Q:

What types of classes are available?

A:

Available classes are based on what the parent will sign up to teach and usually focuses on enrichment. Past co-op classes have included math, PE, biology, logic, history, speech, art, Spanish, lego engineering (both elementary and middle school), music, home ec, journalism, personal finance, etc. Classes are supplemental to your homeschooling, which means you don't have to change your curriculum to participate. Some classes last one semester, while other classes continue throughout the entire school year.

Q:

How are the classes grouped?

A:

Psalm 91 Homeschool Co-op offers 2 class periods. Classes are grouped by age, although depending on the child, there may be a good reason to allow a student to attend a class that is below or above his age group. Currently the classes are Nursery (0-3 y/o) & Preschool (3-5 y/o) combined plus varying classes offered by teachers for ranges of ages from elementary to high school classes (depending on what parents will volunteer to teach).

Q:

Can I see what a class schedule looks like?

A:

Yes, but PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that classes change each semester depending on what God inspires each parent to teach. We have never had the exact same schedule -- some classes are available each semester, like Gym, but most change. VIEW SAMPLE PS91 CLASS SCHEDULE HERE

Q:

Is any outside work required of the students?

A:

There is occasionally some outside work expected from the students, but it is usually for older students or minimal work for elementary students. At the middle school and high school level, we do offer some classes that require the students to study a certain curricula at home (e.g. Biology, Spanish).

Q:

What is the maximum size of Psalm 91 Co-op?

A:

The maximum number is about 75-80 students.

Q:

What are the fees each year?

A:

Fees are as follows

  1. Annual Family Participation fee ($70 for 2026-2027 school year), due once each year per family (this covers all children in the family).
    • This Annual Fee goes to the liability insurance policy and annual website maintenance fee ($10)
    • Any additional funds go toward administrative expenses (office and cleaning supplies).
  2. One time Background Check fee for all new families who do not already have a background check on file ($10)
  3. We also have fees for each class due each semester paid directly to the teachers.
    • Fees towards the classes your children take will range from $0 to $90 depending on the class.
      • A high school science lab course or a Fencing class will cost more than almost every other class due to tools and specimens.
    • Class fees are per child per semester and dependent on the class. Families will know the class fee prior to registration.
  4. Donations: We ask for donations for the church as a thank you for letting us use their space rent free. We also have a Scholarship fund where we ask for donations to help families who may be struggling to pay annual, class or field trip fees.
  5. Field Trip Fees: depending on the field trip, these costs vary. The hope is to keep fees to $5/less per student, but bigger field trips like baking, escape room, Top Golf, Adrenaline Monkey, Sky Zone, etc will cost more.

Q:

What extracurricular activities do you host at Psalm 91 Homeschool Co-op?

A:

At this time, we started a Student Council (overseen by parent advisors) to allow for more student representation and leadership opportunities. If possible, Theater ending with a play will be offered consistently. Meet ups led by various parents. Field trips coordinated and led by various parents. We encourage CCP and any outside interests by sharing links and how to do more if you want more.

Q:

Will I have to teach a class?

A:

We need you to teach at least one class and help in one class. You are welcome to teach two classes. We understand it can feel like a daunting task, and we encourage you to teach confidently as you already do at home. If the task seems too much in your first semester, we encourage you to help in a class, get a feel for it, and then volunteer in the next semester. Also, we understand that there are circumstances that prevent us from teaching. Please speak to the Administrator to accommodate you.

For those of us that do not have circumstances preventing us from teaching, we encourage you to teach something that is a hobby or passion. Many of us are tenured homeschooling families who can encourage and help you. In addition, we also encourage you to team teach with another parent.  You or the Psalm 91 Administrator can help you find another parent to share the work teaching together as a team.

Q:

Will I have to stay at co-op?

A:

Yes, definitely. We like to make sure that families know that we are not a drop-off program. There are rare exceptions, but those are usually health related or they are special arrangements made by the parent with the co-op Administrator. We need parents on site and rely on all of us to help run and manage the co-op.

Q:

Do the adults have other responsibilities in addition to teaching and helping in classes? How much time in my schedule will this commitment take?

A:

Yes,The goal is to spread out the work among all families and reduce the actual workload to average 15-30 minutes per week each semester, but please note:

  • We recognize that families are in different seasons of life. Some seasons allow parents to give more time and leadership, while other seasons require lighter roles. Over the years these seasons change, and families often find themselves able to serve more at different times.
  • Our goal is not equal work every year, but a shared commitment to support the community in ways that are manageable for each family.

One Job that everyone does: Adults help with cleaning up the church at the end of the day. We also ask the children who are big enough to help move chairs/tables and assist with cleaning and other tasks.

For a list of most volunteer opportunities, view this Psalm 91 Volunteer Opportunities LINK

Possible Roles to volunteer (each role will take approximately 15 minutes-3 hours per semester total): Opening/Closing the building, Shepherding Team, Class Registration, Finance, Communications, Student Council Advisor, Prospective Family Coordinator, Events Coordinator, Attendance Coordinator, Audio/Visual Support, Name Tag Coordinator, Student Certificate Coordinator
