Elementary Information
Monday morning classes are for students Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Tuesday and Wednesday classes are available for students 1st through 6th. Parents can use these classes as enrichment or as a starting place for a full curriculum. Homework is optional but available for parents to use each week. Minimum enrollment is five students per class, maximum enrollment is twelve students per class. There are extra elective classes on Mondays and Thursdays for students of all ages.
When deciding between Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday for a 1st-3rd grader, their ability and comfort level is most important. Mondays covers the same material but is a half day, is faster paced for younger bodies and minds, full of peers of a similar age, and lessons are aimed at younger students. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are for a wider range so all students should be able to sit still and listen for 30 minutes, follow 5+ step directions, work independently for 15-20 minutes after given directions on an assignment, and participate in class discussions. No elementary student of any age is required to be able to read or write.
When deciding between elementary school and middle school for a 6th grader, we recommend thinking about their skills and maturity. In elementary school, we will be doing more hands on activities, more opportunities to get moving, and lessons are targeted towards younger students. Middle school will be more lectures and deeper discussions for older students. They are also given more responsibility in classes and homework.
If you have any questions about choosing which classes are appropriate for your children, we would be happy to discuss this with you.
