Soaring High relies on parents to teach, monitor, and chaperone the children enrolled in our group. Your family’s safety is of utmost importance to us. All prospective participating families must have a background check completed yearly on the primary volunteer parent before their enrollment is finalized.
Soaring High will not, under any circumstances, accept a member with criminal convictions/juvenile adjudications that meet the following criteria:
- ANY abuse or neglect of children, or
- ANY crimes against a person (including, but not limited to, crimes against children, domestic violence, assault/battery, sexual crimes, etc.), or
- ANY felony less than 5 years old.
If an applicant has convictions/juvenile adjudications that fall into the criteria above, please refrain from applying as membership/volunteer status will be denied.
Soaring High leadership understands that people can and do become new in Christ. Background checks that do come back less than “all clear” will be discussed and assessed on a case-by-case basis with the person and leadership. Soaring High leadership reserves the right to further investigate proof of character through other measures including, but not limited to, additional references, face-to-face interview, and a more in-depth background check (with the cost being the responsibility of the applicant).
Soaring High leadership will be responsible for processing background checks and determining eligibility based on policy. The identity of accepted individuals having a questionable background will not be disclosed in the interest of privacy and to minimize liability.
Please note that the church facility and/or insurance provider may override Soaring High policy without notice, and Soaring High leadership will comply with the policy they set forth. This may require the immediate dismissal of a member or volunteer. In the event of dismissal, no refund of any dues/fees will be provided.
