***Membership in this organization requires that each family fully agree with and abide by the following policy.

(Note: This is part of the Lumen Christi Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, in full, is included in our Lumen Christi Member Handbook.)

“All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17

Lumen Christi member families will show kindness, thoughtfulness and respect toward Lumen Christi leadership and families, clergy and our host facilities and staff/volunteers, both publicly and privately.
Lumen Christi member families will conduct themselves in such a way that their words, actions, and appearance both honor our Lord Jesus Christ and support and encourage fellow Lumen Christi families.
Lumen Christi member families will avoid acting and/or speaking in such a way that is generally considered disrespectful, offensive, immoral, intimidating, berating or rude.
Lumen Christi member families will be responsible for their children’s behavior to ensure that they are acting in accordance with this code of conduct.

*A violation of the above code of conduct may result in a family's immediate removal from the Lumen Christi program, if the violation is deemed serious in nature and warranted by the Lumen Christi board of directors.

Statement of Faith

Lumen Christi Home Education Cooperative in the Catholic Tradition is a Catholic organization, composed of families that educate their children at home. Please thoroughly read our Statement of Faith. We believe Christ is the source of all knowledge and truth, therefore Catholic doctrine, morals, and culture will be a core part of all classes with Lumen Christi. Membership in this organization requires that each family fully agree with and abide by the statement below.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through Him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and life of the world to come.

I acknowledge the authority of the Magisterium of the Holy Catholic Church in Rome, including our current pope and the bishops united to him. I affirm the entire deposit of faith without reservation.

I uphold the moral teachings of the Catholic Church, including the sanctity of marriage, between one man and one woman, and all human life, from conception to natural death.

I assert that “By creating the human being man and woman, God gives personal dignity equally to the one and the other. Each of them, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity.” (CCC #2393)

**Members are asked to sign this agreement every year. 14. Waiver of Liability

This Waiver of Liability is between the parent (stated below in the "Signature of Participating Adult..." field; hereinafter, "the parent") wishing to enroll his/her child(ren) as a student participant(s), and Lumen Christi, Inc. (hereinafter, “Lumen Christi”). Specifically, the parent hereby specifically, expressly, knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily releases Lumen Christi from any and all liability arising from any injury which may occur to the parent and their child(ren) during Lumen Christi activities, whether said injury is caused by accident, negligence, or intentional action. The parent does retain the right to attempt to hold liable any individual actor who causes injury to the parent or his/her child(ren), but the parent understands that Lumen Christi is a volunteer-driven cooperative effort, and that if any parent were to attempt to hold Lumen Christi responsible for said injuries, then no families would be able to take advantage of the cooperative in the future. Because the parent desires for Lumen Christi to be available in the future to provide educational, enrichment opportunities and courses, the parent elects to waive any right he/she may otherwise have to hold Lumen Christi liable for any injury to the parent or his/her child(ren) that may arise.

By signing below, the parent forfeits any right to bring suit against Lumen Christi for any reason. In exchange, the parent receives the opportunity to become a member of Lumen Christi, and to have his/her child(ren) enroll in courses and experience other educational, enrichment opportunities provided by Lumen Christi now and in the future. The parent further acknowledges that the parent hereby assumes the obligation to pay all attorneys’ fees and court costs incurred by Lumen Christi in defending against any suit brought against Lumen Christi by the parent in violation of this Waiver of Liability.

The parent acknowledges that the parent has read this Waiver of Liability in its entirety, that the parent understands all of the terms contained herein, and that the parent agrees and assents to all of the conditions noted.

I understand that I am responsible for being aware of and abiding by all policies and practices contained in the most recent version of the Lumen Christi Member Handbook, as well as policy and schedule updates and changes.

* The member handbook is updated and posted each Summer, but policy and schedule changes and updates can be made throughout the year, as well.

The member handbook is located on the Lumen Christi member website under the heading, "MEMBERS".
