Q:

What is LIFT's educational philosophy?

A:

LIFT follows the Thomas Jefferson Education philosophy of education. This philosophy encourages a style of education "...where parents, teachers and other mentors help each individual student discover and refine his/her unique, innate genius and get an education to prepare for life success." Q:

How will I know if LIFT is a good fit for my homeschooling family?

A:

The best way to know if you will find a comfortable home at LIFT is by reading Oliver DeMille's book "A Thomas Jefferson Education" and determining if this style of education is a good fit for your family. Reading the book is a requirement for membership, so it's a good place to start! Once you've read the book and you would like to learn more, we encourage you to reach out to our parent representative via our email to schedule a visit with us.

Q:

Are you accepting new families to your homeschool organization?

A:

We accept new families prior to the upcoming school year. Sadly, we do not accept families mid-year, but you are welcome to join our waiting list after reading "A Thomas Jefferson Education" to ensure you're in line to secure a spot once we open our membership in late spring.

Q:

Is your homeschool organization religiously-affliated?

A:

LIFT is a non-sectarian organization whose leadership affirms a Christian worldview. All are welcome at LIFT, with the knowledge that Christian values are professed and supported by many members.

Q:

Do you require members to sign a faith statement?

A:

LIFT does not require members to affirm a faith statement to join our organization.

Q:

What is a New Commonwealth School and how is it different than a homeschool co-op?

A:

As stated on the website for New Commonwealth Schools, "A once a week school that is owned and operated by the families that run it.  It is a model of a homeschool co-op that is designed to last 20 or more years.  The school is eventually run by an elected board that governs based on written documents that protect the founder’s original vision of educational philosophy and the vision and mission of the school."
