FAQs

Character Quality Presentation

Q:

What age is appropriate for Character Quality Presentations?

A:

Character Quality Presentations are appropriate for ages 5+. Younger children may also feel comfortable presenting, especially with a parent or older sibling.

General

Q:

I'm getting too many emails!!! How do I change my notifications settings?

A:

If you go to "Profile" on your Homeschool Life account, and scroll to the bottom of the screen, there is a section that you can change your notification settings, to consolidate/limit how many emails you are receiving from us.

Q:

Is there a dress code?

A:

All families and children who turn their cameras on to make sure you are fully clothed. (PJs that are fully covering are fine).

For girls - this includes a full top/dress top and a bottom of some sort.

For boys - this includes a full shirt (not just a sleeveless undershirt) and a bottom of some sort.

Class Questions

Q:

For the Zoom Classes, are all children required to turn on their cameras and speak?

A:

While for optimum engagement, it would be nice for all children to be seen and participate, children/parents who are not comfortable do not have to do so.

If a child does not want to turn on their camera or speak during class, it is recommended that the parent communicates this with the teacher either by email, or through the chat feature on Zoom.

Q:

What should I do if my family are in the waiting room for a long time, after the start of class?

A:

We have found that when sharing screens, it is difficult to tell when we have families/students in the waiting room.

In order to prevent families from being stuck in the waiting room due to screen sharing...

1. We ask families to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to class time in the Zoom Session.

2. Our teachers will not share screens for at least the first 5 minutes of class to allow time for children to be admitted in the room

3. You can text the teacher if you are waiting in the waiting room for several minutes after the start of class to alert them that you are present.

For multiple student households, we suggest the following:

2. Use one computer with a screen sharing/mirroring device to a TV (smart tv, apple tv, chromecast, etc).
