About Us
We are a homeschool social group with the goal of building lifelong friendships for our children and parents. Summer 2026 begins our 5th year! We are not a drop-in play group, a between co-ops group, or a no commitment park group. We have observed that social groups without attendance requirements and rules either don't last long, or the kids struggle to make friends as the families are different each week. So we have taken the best of both worlds, mixing the co-op type requirements with the relaxed structure of a play group to create our group.
- WHO: Kids age 0-16. The same parent must attend each week.
- WHAT: Alternating park days with outdoor spaces and events.
- WHEN: Meetups are held every Friday from 12pm to 3pm year-round.
- WHERE: The majority of our outings are in or near Caldwell County (Lenoir, Hudson, and Granite Falls), Burke County (Morganton and Valdese), and the Forest Hills area of Hickory.
- WHY: To build lifelong friendships for our children and parents.
Here's a little more about our current schedule. We rotate park - outdoors - park - event.
- Park and outdoors are included in the yearly fee and require no additional effort on your part beyond showing up and socializing.
- Park: Free play on playground or with sports equipment, chat, and picnic lunch.
- Outdoors: Free play with sports equipment, hike, walk, explore, water play, chat, and picnic lunch.
- Participation in events, activities, and moms nights are restricted for the first term, and optional after that. Parents must plan one in order to participate, and there may be additional fees.
- Event: could be a party, cookout, games, or a competition. Usually we have a potluck and some special activities.
- Activities 11am-12pm: vary but include crafts, games, and tours.
- Moms Nights: activity and location vary. Meets about once a month, usually on a Friday evening or Saturday.

Alternatives: As we have a web page, we're easier to find than most homeschooling groups. Many find us first, and while we're not really what they are looking for, they don't know where else to look. If this is you: NCHE (North Carolinians for Home Education) has local meetup and links to local Facebook groups; every county has 4H interest clubs; Trail Life and American Heritage Girls are Christian scouts. Ask in your county's homeschool Facebook group about local groups, or search keywords like co-op, group, park, class, meetup, and play.
