Welcome to Ad Astra!!

Ad Astra serves the Fredericksburg, VA and surrounding area homeschool community by offering educational cooperative classes for K5 through 8th grade (with pre-school for K3-K4 and a nursery for age 2 and under for participating families) while coordinating time and space for homeschool families to connect with homeschool tutors to meet the educational needs of high school age students with a variety of class offerings.

We are a cooperative program that supplements the homeschool experience with academic tutoring while providing our students with an opportunity for solid social interactions. Our program has historically focused on core academics, but we are seeking to expand the program to include more electives in the future.

Ad Astra is not an accredited school. Our program is not intended to replace or provide your entire homeschool experience nor guarantee high school graduation requirements. At the High School level, Ad Astra coordinates with area tutors who offer their services to homeschooling families, and we present a schedule of those classes at a designated campus for the convenience of our community of homeschooling families. You are free to hire the particular tutors on the schedule as you choose, utilizing as few as one, or as many as five classes each academic year. The schedule and classes that are taught by the contracted tutors are subject to change from year to year.

We strive to only work with quality tutors but it is your responsibility to determine whether the content of the classes offered through Ad Astra is adequate to meet your curriculum criteria. While we offer high school tutor-lead group learning for which tutor grading suggestions are provided, it is the responsibility of the student and parents to track and maintain credits and transcripts. We offer guidance and suggestions to our families for managing that information, but we do not offer diplomas or official recordkeeping beyond the transcript of suggested grades for classes taken through the Ad Astra Program. The ultimate responsibility and authority of homeschooling your student stays with you, their parent/guardian.

Our High School classes are scheduled into five 80-minute blocks between 8:00am through 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each Academic Year provides 32 weeks of classroom instruction. In some cases there may be a half-credit class available for one semester.
