A2 ADVENTURE CLUB GENERAL INFORMATION
A2 Adventure Club offers opportunities for families to connect and be part of a community. All opportunities are for families to enjoy together. Drop-off of children is not permitted and A2 Adventure Club does not offer supervision during any meetup, field trip, class, party, celebration, cohorts, or any other activity. We ask that parents or guardians are available to support their child(ren)’s needs at all times. At times, field trips or classes will be scheduled with a third party such as a museum or art studio, in which case drop-off and supervision is up to the discretion of said third party. Specific guidance will be offered in such situations. Some of the opportunities we offer include but are not limited to:
1. Meetups - A2AC will often schedule outings to parks, playgrounds, museums, zoos, and other attractions. These are times for families to be together in an unstructured way. Times are flexible for these types of outings and families are welcome to arrive and leave on their own schedule. These are typically self-pay at the door or free.
2. Field Trips & Classes - When we offer outings to museums, art studios, roller rinks, rock climbing, and other locations where a head count is needed, a special discount might be provided, and specific time tables may need to be followed. These are typically paid ahead of time to A2AC. Our field trips include overnight camping, homeschooling-discounted days at local animal sanctuaries, indoor water park resorts, museums, aquariums, legoland and aerospace discovery centers.
3. Parties and Celebrations - Parties and celebrations are typically held around holidays. Our special events include: Start-of-School-Year Pool Party in September, Trunk or Treat and Pumpkin Painting/Carving in October, Winter Solstice moonlit owl-spotting and lantern-lit hikes in December and January, Gift-wrapped Book Exchanges in December and January, Valentine’s Party in Februrary, Spring solstice nature hikes and Book reading Party Bookapalloza in March, Easter Egg Hunt in April, Raised Bed Flowers and Veggies Gardening May through August, and End-of-School-Year Party in June.
4. Cohorts - A Cohort is a group of families that meet on the same day and at the same time each week. Cohorts are play-based meetups supported by Cohort Leaders. In the beginning, Cohort leaders might lead, or sign up others to lead, group-building activities to help families get to know one another and to build community. As children become comfortable, they are invited to plan and lead games and activities. Project work grows from the interests of the children and Cohort Leaders may support this process by offering opportunities to explore a concept further. We are happy to help our members organize celebratory cultural events during cohorts throughout the year like Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) in September, Diwali (Hindu Fesitval of Lights) in November, and Holi (Hindu Festival of Colors) in March.
5. Communication tools such as a private Facebook page and our Member's Only website in which members can connect and share resources.
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
A2 Adventure Club is for families looking to create secular connections and build a nature-loving community. Families that join, share the common goal of creating safe and compassionate learning environments for all children. There are different levels of engagement for A2AC families. Some join simply for the support and friendship that the private Facebook group offers. Others join the group so that they can plan and/or organize meetups and special events such as cultural celebrations and field trips hosted by A2AC. Most families join the cohorts, which meet once a week at local parks and help build a consistent nature-loving community for families. Most meetups and events will be weekdays between 9am and 7pm with occasional weekends for special events. Cohorts typically run Tuesdays 11am to 3pm and Fridays 3pm to 7pm.
