How to Plan a Field Trip
3) ask if they have a minimum/maximum # children (or people). Make sure they're aware that a parent will be accompanying their own child (ren) so there will be many adult chaperones. (Some places limit total # children but allow unlimited adults. Some places limit the total # people.)
4) ask if there are any age restrictions, whether or not handicap/stroller accessible & if there is any other need-to-know info
5) if there is a fee, ask if they offer school discounts & if there is a minimum # participants to get the discount
6) go to the LEAH website calendar, find the scheduled day & click on the blue date in the upper right hand corner of the day
7) complete the online form, including cost, meeting time/place, directions & any addtl info, then click submit
8) it will go to Jennie Mroz for review & approval

TAP is Back for Homeschool Graduates!!
New York State Loving Education at Home (LEAH) is pleased to announce that TAP will be given to all eligible home instructed students who have met ONE of the following requirements:
obtain a letter from local school district officials confirming that the student has received an education "substantially equivalent" to instruction given to students graduating high school in the public schools;
take and pass the GED test; or
achieve a satisfactory score on an ability-to-benefit test approved by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
Please make a copy of the memo ( found in the "Articles" link on our website) from NYS Deputy Commissioner John L D'Agati and keep it for your files and share with anyone at a SUNY or a CUNY college that might question your eligibility to receive TAP.
And please take a moment in prayer to thank Our Lord for granting home school students favor in the eyes of the SED on this issue, and for blessing all the time and effort our volunteer Legislative Liaisons, Michael and Carolyn Bailey, have spent on this and so many other issues!
From our LEAH regional rep
I have been hearing from different sources that some school districts are telling parents or sending home letters to parents of high school students that once their student turns 16 that they do not have to report to the school district anymore..meaning letter of intent, quarterly reports, IHIPS or end of the year evalutions. This is not a good practice and puts the future of those students at a disadvantage.
