HMA PSP Information

Q:

What is Holy Martyrs Academy PSP?

A:

Holy Martyrs Academy PSP is a Private Satellite Program registered in the State of California. We affirm parents as the primary educators of their children and operate as a record-keeping service for homeschooled families with children in grades K-12.

We currently provide the following services:
• File an annual affidavit
• Maintains Student's Cumulative Files
• Process Student Transfers
• Assist with Curriculum Counseling & Development of Course of Study, as needed
• Provide Official 8th Grade & High School Diplomas upon Graduation (We do have required courses & credits for Graduation)
• Provide Official High School Transcripts
• Hold 8th Grade and High School Graduation Ceremony

Q:

Does my child have to participate in the Academic Co-op to be part of the PSP?

A:

No, the PSP is a school of record. You as the parent are in full control of your child's education.

Q:

What are the parent's responsibilities if their child is part of the PSP?

A:

1. Maintain an attendance record. Personalized Attendance Records can be found under the PSP Records. If your family name is not on the Google Drive please email Alison Ujueta at hmewacademy@gmail.com.

Attendance Records are due:
First Quarter: November 1st - November 15th.
Second Quarter: February 1st - February 15th.
Third Quarter: May 1st - May 15th.
Fourth Quarter: August 1st - August 15th**

2. Turn in immunization records AND Health Examination for School Entry OR waivers. Immunization records only need to be turned in on entry in the PSP and when your child is entering 7th grade. The Health Examination for School Entry only needs be turned in once on entry in the PSP. Records can be uploaded onto your child's Google Drive, emailed to hmewacademy@gmail.com, or physically turned in.

3. Maintain a list of Course of Study
A personalized Course of Study can be found under the PSP Records. If your family name is not on the Google Drive please email Alison Ujueta at hmewacademy@gmail.com.

4. Turn in a Parental Grade Report Form.
A personalized Parental Grade Report Form can be found under the PSP Records. If your family name is not on Google Drive please email Alison Ujueta at hmewacademy@gmail.com.

Parental Grade Report Forms are due:
First Semester: February 1st - February 15th.
Second Semester: August 1st - August 15th**

**If your child will be participating in the HMA Graduation (8th grade or 12th grade) then the 4th Quarter attendance AND 2nd semester Grade Reports must be completed before a diploma will be awarded.

What is the cost of the PSP?

HMA Academic Coop

Q:

What is Holy Martyrs Academy Academic Co-op?

A:

HMA Academic Co-op is a 4-day-a-week in-person Catholic co-op for students in grades K-12.

Q:

Do I have to be part of the PSP for my child to attend the Academic Co-op?

A:

No, but you must have a school of record. Here are the your options:

Option 1: Homeschooling as a home-based private school - File your own private affiliate
Option 2: Homeschooling with a private school satellite program (PSP) - Such as Holy Martyrs Academy PSP
Option 3: Homeschooling via instruction by a private tutor
Option 4: Use a public charter (your child is enrolled in a public school)

Q:

What is the cost of the Academic Co-op?

A:

Full day (1st-12th grade): $3000 per year

Kindergarten : $2400 per year

Individual High School classes: $600 per year
Individual High School classes are only available if you are only interested in taking 1-2 classes and will not stay on campus when not in class.

Q:

Are textbooks and curriculum covered in the tuition cost?

A:

YES!! Textbooks and curriculum are covered in the tuition cost. However, there may be projects and activities the teacher may add that the tuition does not cover. A supply list will be posted within the first week of classes.

Q:

Is there Sacrament Prep available at the HMA Academic Co-op?

A:

YES!! But for your child to receive their first sacraments at Holy Martyrs they must be a member of the Ordinariate of Chair of St. Peter AND a member of Holy Martyrs for at least one year. If you would like to become a member of Holy Martyrs and the Ordinariate of Chair of St. Peter please contact the secretary at secretaryhmew@gmail.com.  If you are a member of another church your child may still have to go through Sacrament Prep through your parish.

Homeschooling in California

Q:

Compulsory School Age in California, when you start homeschooling (and when you get to stop)?

A:

In California, each child must attend school or comply with the homeschool laws starting with the school year in which he or she turns 6 by September 1 and ending on the child’s 18th birthday.
