SOSS Activities
Members of the Society of Saint Scholastica, Catholic Homeschool Group, volunteer to coordinate varied activities and events throughout the year. Each member is required volunteer to help organize one event or activity per year. However, first year members are not required to do so in order so they may first get acclimated and meet people in the group.
Members-Only Website
Members private website which contains a group calendar, photo sharing, file sharing, links, blog, and event sign ups for RSVP.
Mom's Meetings
Members host monthly meetings for the moms to discuss homeschool topics, socialize, exchange ideas and support each other.
Opening School Year Mass and Picnic
Mass, potluck and picnic in September to start off the school year.
Rosary Making
Mass, potluck breakfast and a day of learning the skill of rosary making for the missions in October.
Fall Fest
Potluck, picnic and fall activities in October.
All Saints Day
Children come dressed as their favorite saint for Mass, potluck breakfast, fun day of games with prizes.
Christmas Caroling
Caroling at a local Nursing home to bring Christmas cheer to the aged or infirmed.
St. Nicholas Craft Day
Mass, potluck breakfast and a day of crafting for all ages on Feast of St. Nicholas.
Roller Skating
A day of roller skating for the whole family at local roller rink in winter months.
Candlemas Day
Mass with candle blessing and potluck breakfast on Candlemas Day, Feb. 2.
Poetry Recital
Program organized for students of all ages to recite poetry and original works in March.
Talent Festival
Program organized to highlight the talents of our children in March.
Saint Doll Exchange
Like a cookie exchange, an organized exchange of homemade, collectible, painted wooden saint dolls.
May Crowning
Mass, procession with flowers for Our Lady, and a May Crowning followed by potluck/picnic in May.
Graduation
Graduation Mass for both 8th grade and High School graduates with reception afterwards.
Spelling Bee
We distribute word list, hold bee in April.
Ice Cream Social
Outdoor Ice Cream Social with all the toppings as a celebration of the end of the school year in June!
Report Group
Group that meets throughout the school year so that students can give and listen to others give oral reports on any topic.
Families Praying for Families
Opportunity for families to participate in praying for each other.
Mom Events
Several special events are coordinated each year for Moms to get out and have some fun with and get to know each other.
Tween Group (10-13 y.o.)
Monthly tween activities are coordinated each month throughout the year.
Teen Group (13 & up)
Semi-monthly teen activities are coordinated throughout the school year on Fridays or Saturdays with dances in the fall/winter and spring.
Field Trips
Miscellaneous field trips are often scheduled throughout the school year.
