Q:

What is Great Commission Academy?

A:

Great Commission Academy (GCA) is a Christ-centered co-op which provides classes for homeschooled students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. We meet at Grace Fellowship Church in Avon, Indiana, on Wednesdays from August through April.

Q:

Is this a drop-off co-op?

A:

For safety reasons, we ask parents of children 10 and under to stay in the building. Parents of older students are free to stay in the lobby or to leave and return.

Q:

Are parents required to help?

A:

To promote a safe and productive learning enviroment for all, we ask parents to take turns volunteering to serve as hall monitors. This will usually be a one- to two-hour shift a couple of times per semester.

We also need parents to help with set-up in the morning and clean-up in the afternoon. If your child has either the first or the last class of the day, please come in and help us get the building ready. Many hands make light work!

There may be other volunteer opportunities at various times throughout the year.

How much do classes cost?

A:

The costs vary, but most classes cost about $120-$150 per semester.

Q:

Are there any additional fees?

A:

Yes. The fee to join the website is $10 per family, which covers the cost of hosting your account on our website. This must be paid before your membership will be approved, and each year thereafter.

There is also a $25 per family supply fee due at the Ice Cream Social in August.

Q:

How do I know if there is room for my child in a class?

A:

Click on Class Info > Class Catalog.

Click the Class Matrix button in the top right.

Select the class you are interested in.

Check the class information on the bottom of the popup window. There you will find the number of spots still available in the class, as well as how many students are on the waiting list.

How do I create an account on the website?

A:

On the website, click on Request Membership in Great Commission Academy!

Fill out the application and complete the required forms.

Pay the $10 website fee to cover the cost of hosting your account on our website.

You will receive an email to confirm your membership.

How do I register for classes?

A:

Once your membership has been approved:

Log in to your account with your username and password.

Click on Class Info > Class Registration

You will see the classes on a gray background.

Click on the class you want, such as Writing 1.

The class description will pop up.

On the right side, select the student you want to add, then click REGISTER.

Q:

How do I pay for classes?

A:

You will pay each teacher directly for any classes your child takes. The class fees for first semester will be due at the Ice Cream Social in August. The class fees for second semester will be due the third week of November.

When you register for a class, you are agreeing to pay for both semesters.
