SERVE!
Q: |
How often are there serving events for SWISH students? |
A: |
Once a month. At SWISH, we believe serving = greatness, since Jesus said, "Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you..." Mark 10:34-35 NCV. Our serving opportunities concentrate on habits of outreach that can be maintained into adulthood. These are open to the community, so your students can bring along homeschooled high school friends who want to join in serving. SWISH, Jr. students are also welcome to join in serving opportunities.

SOCIAL!
Q: |
How often are there social events for SWISH students? |
A: |
One social event each month. At SWISH, we believe friendships = success, since "A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer." Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT We provide social events concentrating on meaningful friendships that will outlast school. These social events are often open to homeschooled highschoolers in the area, so your students can invite homeschooled friends to come along. Some months, there will be a second social event that is exclusively for SWISH students. |
Parent Responsibility
Q: |
Do parents have to teach a high school class? |
A: |
You can take an administrative responsitility or teach a class! SWISH classes are taught by parents who love the subjects and have a passion for teaching. These parents put hours into creating a syllabus, curating curriculum and activities and field trips, creating home study plans, and showing up to class excited to watch your students learn every week. Some years, we hire a tutor from outside co-op to teach a class. |

What do parents have to do? |
A: |
As a member, you will assist in classes on rotating assignment each week during co-op classes. You will also be assigned two responsibilities for the duration of the school year: 1. host one event. 2. manage one administrative role OR teach one class. |

SWISH now has a chapter for younger students! SWISH, Jr. is a chapter of SWISH for students studying in grades 5-8. We recommend ages 11-14 for these classes, designed for students who are able to: focus for 30 minutes without breaks, have parent involvement for home study 4 days a week, learn by reading textbooks, learn by activity, abide by a behavior agreement, be pleasant to others. SWISH also provides childcare for ages 0-10 who are able to get along well with other children. Parents may leave their little ones in childcare while they are assisting in co-op classes. Caregivers are Junior or Senior SWISH students and SWISH parents. If a parent leaves co-op for any reason during co-op classes, their little ones must go with them. |
