For the 26/27 school year, August 12-May 12, you commit to contribute these 3 things:

1. teach 1 class each Wednesday for 32 weeks, August 12-May 12;

2. AND host 1 student event;

3. AND assist in classrooms each Wednesday at the co-op.
 

 

By selecting "I, parent, Agree and Sign", you are communicating that for the 26/27 school year, you will teach 1 class, host 1 student event, and assist every Wednesday. You intend to honor these commitments for the 26/27 school year. (1 required) I, Parent, Agree and Sign
2. Attend 1 Starting Point informational meeting. Attend Teacher Day. Attend first day of school.

February 12, February 24, and March 9 are our informational meetings for 26/27. The parent member must attend 1 of these meetings.

Teacher Day Camp is May 20, 2026. The parent member must attend.

September 9th is the first day of class for 26/27 and must be attended by parent AND student members.

There are 3 other events we recommend both parents attend, but are not required: the Porch Sit, second Thursday in September, the Fall Family Bonfire, third Friday in October, and Graduation, May 15, 2027.

 

Fulfill all contribution responsibilities.

If you are unable to make it to co-op to teach your class or to assist in a class, or if you find yourself unable to fulfill any other of your contributions, YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE to fulfill your role. You may fulfill your responsibility by finding a replacement for yourself in time for the responsibility to be fulfilled. You can contact an individual member of the co-op to switch with or ask a family member to substitute for you or make other arrangements. Once you make the arrangements, communicate them to the SWISH Director, Sharon Pennington. This policy applies for ANY reason you may be unable to fulfill your responsibility: sickness, vacation, family emergency, health issues, etc. Please be as willing as possible to switch with another parent if you are able.

 

Pay class fees, purchase books, and pay for other costs.

Not all, but some classes may have a fee required. These fees are due by August 12th, the first day of class, payable by Venmo @SWISHCo-op or in-person cash or check. These fees will be automatically added to your family invoice as you register for classes and payable by May 13. Supplies needed for each class will be listed in the class descriptions: textbooks, reading lists, materials needed for each class, field trips, etc.. Each family is responsible for purchasing what is needed for each student for each class.

 

Communicate regularly.

Our co-op utilizes the Homeschool Life website for most communication. A weekly update email is sent out on Mondays. Announcements are given at co-op at 8:45am each week. There is also a Signal chat group, SWISH Co-op Parents, for some communication between families. All communication takes place and homework is assigned on website class forums. Each student needs to have access to the classes and forums via the website.

If you need help setting up Signal or need assistance with the website, please let any board member know and we are happy to help.

    

Be responsible for your younger children.

At SWISH, we parents are intentionally preparing our teenage children for graduation and adult life. Parents are expected to make arrangements for their other children.

 

Be involved in your student’s progress. 

All assignment of grades is the responsibility of the parent, all assessment of a student's progress is the responsibility of the parent, and all work assigned in class may be excused by the parent. If your student will not be completing part of any assignment, it is your responsibility to communicate your excuse to your student’s teachers.

Teachers will communicate missing or incomplete assignments with parents unless a previous excuse has been communicated.

 

Insist that your student follows policies.

We all love a harmonious atmosphere and when we are all observing these agreed policies, that’s what we enjoy. Please take responsibility for your student abiding by these policies and please do not abdicate to board members to address policy violations.

 

Understand that policy violations have consequences.

A first violation of one of these policies will result in a board member having a conversation with you, reminding you of the policy. A continued violation of the same policy will result in a letter from the SWISH board notifying you of the violation. If 3 letters are received for any one policy, your co-op membership, participation, and benefits will be terminated. We will remain friends, but you will not be allowed to continue in the co-op or receive the benefits of the co-op for the remainder of the year, and the termination will be taken into consideration for any further membership requests.

3. Teacher Expectations

As a teacher, you will have a syllabus and class description provided for you. You are required to attend the Teacher Day Camp, May 20, 2026, 9am-3pm, where we will work together to set up class forums on the website, plan field trips, schedule homework, etc. to prepare for the school year. Class time should be used for the advantage of having a group of students together: collaboration, activity, and discussion vs. lecture, video, and reading. The syllabus only requires 32 weeks of study; no homework should be assigned for week 1 or during any break. Teachers are required to have the coming week's homework assigned no later than Wednesday evening. Teachers may assign homework, tests, projects, etc. for the understanding and experience of the subject being taught. These are assigned with the understanding that completion is at the discretion of each parent for their student. Teachers should keep track of assignments that have been excused and communicate missing or incomplete assignments with parents who have not excused them. All grades and assessments from tests, assignments, projects, participation, etc. are the responsibility of each parent and will not be administered by the class teachers at co-op.

 

Administrator Expectation

As an administrator, you will have a description of your responsibilities provided for you and will collaborate with board members and other members to fulfill them. You will have extended access to the website to make information available to members, inclucing calendar events, forums, etc.. Board members and previous members have carried these responsibilities before, so you are welcome to ask for ideas and help from anyone and board members will be in contact with you. Some responsibilities have deadlines. You are required to fulfill the responsibilities by the deadlines to the best of your ability.

4. Participate fully in co-op activities.

Students should arrive at co-op on time, diligently participate while in class, use the website to access classes and assignments, collaborate agreeably with other students, observe due dates, honor this behavior agreement, and fulfill all assignments directed by their parents. Students will be expected to complete assigned work unless their parent has communicated otherwise with their teacher.

 

Attend first day of school year.

August 12th is the first day of class for 26/27 and must be attended by parent AND student members.

 

Leave things better than we found them.

Our host church, Parkview Baptist Church, offers us the use of its facility free of charge. To continue this great relationship with our host church, each student will sign up each co-op day to do a cleanup task at the end of the co-op day. At the end of each class, students are expected to throw out their trash, gather personal belongings, and help return the room to its original condition. At the end of Block 4, all personal belongings should be carried out of the building. The student should complete their cleanup task and report it to the building administrator. Once the cleanup task has been reported the student is free to leave. The generous effort of our students to clean each week saves our families hundreds of dollars in building rental.

 

No cell phone use during co-op class hours.

If a student brings a cell phone to co-op, it must stay in the car or put away and not used for the entire day. If electronics use is taking place, a student can expect to be asked by a parent to discontinue immediately.  SWISH provides opportunities for meaningful friendships to develop that will outlast school. This practice of leaving phones and other electronic devices at home or put away during the co-op day creates this environment for building relationships. The best course of action is to leave phones and other electronic devices at home. Note: There will be some situations where classes require phone or laptop use. Any electronics in use in class will be by request and under the instruction of a teacher.

Special policy violation consequences are in effect for this policy, as follows:

1st offense- Warning given.

2nd offense- Device will be taken by teacher and returned to parent that day.

3rd offense- for the remainder of the year, device will be left home. If the device is brought to co-op, it will be taken by a teacher during co-op hours then returned to student or parents when dismissed for the day.

 

Love your neighbor.

At SWISH, we follow Jesus' instructions to love your neighbor as yourself. Words, actions, and relationships are expected to reflect the character of Jesus as found in Scripture and honor Him. This should inform your behavior choices to include no foul language, no obscene gestures, no unpleasant printed messages, no demeaning of others, etc.

While SWISH celebrates dating relationships between students, the expectation is that interactions between students during co-op hours will express friendliness but not intimacy. This includes no hand holding, no playing with another’s hair, no sitting in another’s lap, no kissing, no prolonged hugging, etc. If this kind of behavior is taking place, a student can expect to be asked by a parent to discontinue immediately.

 

Student drivers must have written parent’s permission.

In order to drive on/off campus, your student needs a signed driver’s form. This form will be available the first day of class or you may request it from any board member. If your student leaves campus prior to the end of co-op day, a parent must provide to a board member a written note stating they have a parent’s permission to leave early and with whom they may leave with. If a student leaves prior to co-op being over without a written note of permission and communication with a board member, police & parents will be notified.

5. Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired and only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God.

We believe that there is ONE God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death on the cross, in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that Faith in Him is the only way to receive God’s Grace and Salvation.

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who dwells within the Christian, enabling us to live Godly lives and build Christ’s Church.

We believe in God-ordained authority where the parents have the Primary authority over our children, and we are subject to the state only when it is acting under Godly-jurisdiction.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the creation of man by the direct act of God.

6. Statement of Consent

By agreeing below,
I attest that all statements made on this application are accurate and complete. I understand that submitting false statements or withholding relevant information will result in the denial or dismissal of my membership. I also understand that if I accept a membership offer, I am making a commitment to the co-op for the entire school year. I also agree to abide by all policies and procedures put in place and my family will conduct themselves accordingly.


In the event of an emergency or non-emergency situation requiring medical treatment, I hereby grant permission for any and all medical and/or dental attention to be administered to my child/children, in the event of an accidental injury or illness, until such time as I can be contacted. This permission includes, but is not limited to, the administration of first aid, the use of an ambulance, and the administration of
anesthesia and/or surgery, under the recommendation of qualified medical personnel.*

Hold Harmless Statement*
As a part of this agreement, each member is asked to read and sign the following Hold Harmless Statement in order for the family to participate in any activities. Each member covenants to the following:

1. As a parent, I assume all responsibility for any accident or injury, or any other loss resulting from participation in Co-op activities and use of facility grounds, buildings, etc. I will hold-harmless the Co-op leadership, their families, and Facilities we meet at.

2. I agree that if an injury occurs while participating in the Co-op activities I will not, under any circumstance, submit a claim against such facilities, the Co-op leaders, or any insurer of either organization, but rather use my own private insurance coverage, and accept personal responsibility for all such injury or other loss expenses.

3. I have either:

1) Inspected the facilites and have informed such facility and the Co-op leadership of any safety concerns or; 2) Accept thefacility “as is” and assume all responsibility for accident and/or injury for myself and/or any of my family members. I realize I am under no obligation to use the facility. Each parent understands that they and their children are participating in the Co-op activities at their own risk. The parent may request access to the facility for inspection from the director.

Please Venmo fees to @SWISHCo-op,

send a check to Katrina Bollinger, SWISH Treasurer,

or pay in-person at one of the Starting Point events. Registration is considered complete once the fees have been paid, contribution agreement signed, and a Starting Point event attended. If you have a senior graduating in 2027, please select the senior fee. This fee will be applied to senior events, cap and gown purchase, and the SWISH graduation ceremony.
