This reserves each child's spot and is your good faith step that your child(ren) will attend Excelsior in the fall. It is separate from tuition.

Enrollment Fee Rate Schedule:

March 16 - April 30:	$100 per student (max $275 per family)

Stay and Serve Option Details
Tuition Cost: $555 per child per year
No tuition is due now -- only enrollment fees. Payment is due in full prior to the start of class.

If you choose to stay and serve we charge a much lower rate. All of the money goes directly to the students and the church for supplies, books, room fees, yearbooks, etc. Everyone, including the directors, are all volunteers. We like to find out where our teachers feel gifted (subjects or grades they have passion for or possibly experience in) and place them in those positions. Often moms want to be with their own children.
There is no lesson "creating" required and no requirement that you must already know how to teach. The curriculum we use comes with lesson plans and assumes you are a parent with no prior teaching experience. We almost always are able to pair two moms together so that the teaching assignments are shared and you are not alone. Usually only our more experienced teachers teach solo. If teaching sounds scary, it really is not. All moms go in nervous and after the first week or two they see there is nothing at all to be nervous about. We offer extensive teacher training prior to class start and student teaching options (where Pauline or another veteran teacher can come in and teach the class while you watch and learn).
The cost for this option is $555 per child per year (annual, bi-annual, or auto draft monthly payments available.)

Expectations:

Absences: We take ample breaks throughout the semester and a long Christmas break. Teachers are encouraged to take time off during those times or plan vacations around co-op. No more than 2 planned absences per semester.

Dress code: All teachers are expected to display professionalism in dress and in manner. Dress clothes are most appropriate in our formal environment. Our students wear ties and dress shoes, etc as well.

Prep for class: All teachers are expected to gain familiarity with the material and prep beforehand. With little children you may need to pull flashcards in advance and go over the lesson -- with older children it may mean skimming the material a day or two before and coming ready to discuss. Again, none of these classes require prior expertise. Every class assumes this is your first year teaching it, and it is designed for homeschool parents.

Drop Off Option Details (4th grade and older)
Tuition Cost: $2,225 per child per year.
No tuition is due now -- only enrollment fees. Payment is due in full prior to the start of class.

The very best experience and most ideal way to ensure your success is to stay and serve. But for those moms of very well behaved students who absolutely must drop off, we do allow that as an option.

Please know, it is truly a service and ministry to the moms who are unable to come for extenuating circumstances. We are at the heart, a co-op run by moms, none of which get paid, in fact the moms pay to come. So your student must not be a burden on the moms in any way but rather contribute in a positive way to the harmony of the classroom environment. This is not a drop off program to "get a break" from an unruly child for one day a week. Discipline and behavior must happen at home so that students come to co-op ready to listen, behave, and learn. The drop off program is a service and ministry to those who truly cannot come.

Expectations of Drop Offs:

Drop off parent must stay for morning assembly. Sometimes a mom with a baby can sit through the whole thing but sometimes you have to step out— we all do that. Morning assembly is part of our culture. We worship together and there is fellowship in the morning.
Also, drop off parents will be expected to check in with teachers daily and get to know the moms that teach on Mondays. This is part of being in community.

Considerations:
Please also know -- dropping off, in many ways, will not be easier for the parent of the student. We are not a private school where teachers teach every aspect of every subject and you just help your child with homework in the evenings. We are all homeschoolers. And though we knock out much of “school” together on Mondays, we do only meet together one day of the week. That still leaves four other days of the week that you will need to be the teacher. Some of the classes will be covered on Mondays entirely, but there are other subjects that need instruction or guidance daily and that will be your job. You will need to research and learn how to use the curriculum we use at Excelsior all on your own without the benefit of being with us on Mondays.

You will also have to work that much harder to connect with the moms at co-op. You may be considering joining because your student needs community, but it’s actually the moms who need the community even more. You may have friends at church that are wonderful sisters in Christ but they do not homeschool. You will need moms who know what you are going through. Coming every Monday naturally builds bonds. I cannot stress this enough--It is so important that you plug into this community of moms -- it is truly the greatest benefit this co-op offers. Because, for homeschooling to be a success, it is you that is most important of all that must be willing to persevere when the times get tough. The parent friendships at Excelsior are so vital because of the support we offer one another. That is why our community of moms (and dads) is so essential. And this is not just also for you, but also for the moms who stay and serve. They want to get to know the moms of the students in their classes. They did not sign up to be a "teacher" in the sense that you think of a paid teacher at a school, but rather to join a community. As a drop off parent it's important that you extend that to them as well.

Class Fees Contract / Full Year Obligation Policy

Full Year Obligation
You understand that you are committing to paying class fees for the entire school year.
Once you submit the enrollment form and pay your enrollment fee you’re committing to paying for the entire year. We have intentionally kept our fees extremely low to make this beautiful classical education available for all.
Please remember to pay on time so we can meet our financial obligations. We budget at the start of the year and spend accordingly. We are a very small group and families that commit and then quit leave us in a bad financial position. We also have offered you a spot and have possibly turned down other wonderful families so that you can be part of our group. So for all those reasons is why the fee agreement will obligate parents to pay a student’s fees for the entire school year regardless if your heart or feelings change mid-way through.

Do Your Research
The burden of doing ample research, visiting, learning the curriculum, and going through it to make sure it is all a good fit for you, rests entirely with you. It is your full responsibility to visit, ask questions before you enroll, flip through the curriculum, and really weigh out the cost and benefit if you truly want to join.

We Don’t Prorate
Some families have to miss the first few weeks, or plan to miss some weeks during the year. On the rare occasion we have taken a student mid-year. We don’t pro-rate the costs in any instance.

Exception to Policy

If a student drops out before the first day of school, only half the class fees will be due, or, if they have already paid tuition, 50% of the tuition will be refunded. After school has commenced, all fees will be due (meaning the full cost of the tuition you selected). There are no refunds granted in any instance except a pro-rated rebate, not to exceed 50% of fees, that will be granted in the following circumstances:

The student moves outside the greater Phoenix area (50 miles from school) with 60 days written notice.
The student experiences extended physical illness and, because of the physical illness, is unable to attend co-op the remainder of the year (i.e. cancer or other serious illnesses that would require bed rest or hospitalization and obviously the student can’t attend because they must stay home).

You understand that you are committing to paying class fees for the entire school year and that no refunds or proration will be granted except in the exception policy as outlined above.

Illness Policy

A student should be symptom free from the following a full 24 hours before returning to co-op:

Fever – Temperature of 100° or above WITHOUT use of fever reducing medication (acetaminophen or ibuprofen)
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Rash
Persistent cough
Lice (students may return to Excelsior after they are observed to be nit free for 48 hours).

Note: A runny nose in and of itself is not considered an illness that requires staying home. If a student or teacher is feeling well but has a runny nose that is fine, bring tissues to use as needed. Infrequent coughs can be handled in a similar manner, one can step outside if needed or cough away from others into the crook of their elbow.

Toddler or Baby With-You-In-Class Policy

There may be situations where you desire to have your baby or toddler with you instead of in the nursery (either some or all the day).
If you desire to have your baby/toddler in class with you there are three criteria and all three must be met:

They must not wander. They must be trained or able to stay with you/sit with you. This training must happen at home so they are prepared to be with you in class.
They must not be a distraction to you or the students; parents are entrusting you to teach their children as well as manage the safety of their children so you must be able to do both those tasks with excellence at all times.
Toddlers may sit with you and quietly color or read but they may not have electronics in the classroom (i.e. give them your phone to watch a movie).

In summary, not all babies/toddlers will be the right fit for candidates in a classroom setting. Much of it depends on personality as well as training at home.

If you find your baby/toddler is not a right fit for the classroom we have a great nursery with age appropriate toys designed to stimulate and encourage learning through play. We have age appropriate toys for babies under 1 year. Once they are ready for the 2’s and 3’s class we have a full preschool curriculum with songs, nursery rhymes, Bible time, colors, letters, numbers. We keep the child to teacher ratio very low.

Note: The preschool/nursery program and nursery does require paying fees for your baby/toddler.

Occasionally we get asked if we will prorate the fees if you do not use the nursery every week. We do not do prorated fees. The nursery fees are incredibly affordable for all that you are getting. We keep the teacher to student ratio very low and your cost for childcare works out to about $2.73/hour. Considering we are doing a full preschool curriculum with the 2’s and 3’s, very low teacher ratio, and ample free play time outside on the fenced playground as well as inside with our purchased toys, it is an incredibly good deal–even if you don’t use all the days.

Note: 3's and under are not required to wear uniforms. But 2’s and 3’s do have in class curriculum you must purchase for around $50.

Behavior Guidelines

You understand that as we are a small group and we only meet once per week for a short amount of time. We are not equipped to handle serious behavior issues such as acts of aggression (hitting, kicking, biting, other threatening or bullying behavior), running from teachers, screaming, throwing fits and disrupting class, or other serious behavior issues. If you have a student that has issues with any of these things the student will need to have a one-on-one aide that can be present with that student at all times (such as a grandparent or babysitter, etc). The parent will be responsible for finding the aide. If you are a stay-and-serve parent this cannot be you. If you are having to manage your child one-on-one then you are not able to serve anyone else.

You understand that lying, cheating, stealing, bullying, drug use, profanity, obscenity, sexual immorality, personal appearance or conduct contrary to one’s biological sex, dishonor to the Word of God, disrespect to the leadership of the group, or continued disobedience to the established standards of this group will not be tolerated and can result in suspension or dismissal.

You agree that if you have an issue with another member or leader, you will “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace”. (Ephesians 4:3) You will commit to not gossip or “sow seeds of discord” (Proverbs 6:19), but instead follow the guidelines outlined in Matthew 18:15-17.

Step 1: Go to the person yourself (privately) and right away. Most problems can be resolved this way. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3)

Step 2: Meet again but with a third party present. If the first step doesn’t achieve resolution, schedule a meeting and invite a leader to be present or one of our members trained in mediation. The third party is involved as a witness to the proceedings. Things are still private but it protects you both that another is there to hear what is being said.

Dress Code Policy

Appearance

GIRLS
Hair – Hair should be brushed and worn neatly and out of the face. Braids, pony tails, buns, etc are fine. No unnatural colors (pink, etc).
Makeup and Nail Polish – Girls only can wear subdued-colored nail polish. Pre-K through 6th grade may not wear makeup. Makeup for 7th and up, if worn, should be natural and not detract from youthfulness.
Jewelry – Jewelry should be minimal and not distracting.
Tattoos – 18 years and older only, and must not be visible
Uniform – Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Navy kick shorts or opaque tights need to be worn under the jumper or skirt at all times. When worn, knee socks are to be in place and not scrunched down.

BOYS
Hair – Hair should be worn neatly (brushed or combed), conservative in style, no longer than mid-ear and worn above eyebrows/out of face, no unnatural colors. Facial hair is permissible if not a distraction and cut and kept neatly.
Earrings – Boys may not have earrings.
Tattoos – 18 years and older only, and must not be visible
Uniform – Shirts should not be oversized or UNDERSIZED. They must tuck in. Sleeves should typically go down to the elbow. That way the shirt is long enough at the waist too. Boys can keep squeezing into a shirt that doesn’t really fit them because they are lean enough, but the sleeves are getting shorter (half way up their arm) which is a sure sign it is too short at the waist and won’t stay tucked in. The shoulder seam should sit at the start of the shoulder cap. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Pants are worn with a belt and should not be oversized, too long, or worn low. Socks need to be in place (not scrunched down).
Makeup or Nail polish - Boys may not wear make up or nail polish.

Uniform Requirements

Bold items are available from French Toast, no substitutions unless indistinguishable.
Non-bold items are sometimes available from French Toast but, lately, have been out of stock – any that are available will be easily viewed and sorted in our Excelsior French Toast Store.

Note: If your child is in 6th grade, but they have sized out of the K-6 clothing line, they may order the 7th-12th grade uniforms.
Embroidered Cardigans or Jackets (PreK-6th) or Blazers (7th+) are the official uniform outerwear for ECHA. Uniforms are only required for JrK (4 years old) and above.

PreK-6th REQUIRED
7th-12th OPTIONAL (if you order the Blue Plaid Two-tab skirt it comes with kick shorts built in, if you order the longer skirts they have no shorts built in.

Socks:
JrK-6th wear White Cable knit knee high socks
In cold weather JrK-6th girls may opt to wear thicker cotton cable knit white tights, if very cold they can wear white leggings underneath, they may not wear the leggings on TOP of their tights).
7th-12th wear Navy Blue Cable-knit knee socks and in winter Navy Blue Cable knit tights. Seasonal changes: they can wear leggings under their tights if cold, choose a color (ideally navy) that will not be seen through. They may not wear the leggings on top of their tights.

Shoes:
Don’t get shiny ones – they will scuff up terribly on the playground, must be entirely black (no other colors)

We encourage buying one of the embroidered jackets and wearing them to Excelsior events but the only approved outerwear to wear to school for upper school is the blazer. The school will pay for their first blazer as a gift to the upper school students. You are required to pay for future blazers. Please return your first blazer back to us if your child outgrows it and you end up buying a second blazer. We will pass those along to other students and/or use them for sizing.

Hair Accessories:
Hair accessories are permitted so long as they look nice with the uniform, are tasteful, and not distracting.

Upper School students (7th-12th graders) may only wear blazers to Excelsior as their jacket and I understand I must purchase a new blazer when they outgrow the first one that has been gifted to them. Hand-me-downs are available on first come first serve.

I understand that Excelsior may, without exclusion of other actions, withhold school records and transcripts or suspend the student if class fee obligations are not met by the parents or guardians.
