Statement of Faith

Trusting in Christ as our Savior, we believe in:

• One God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;

• God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;

• The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son;

• Christ’s vicarious death on the cross, through which we receive forgiveness of sins;

• His resurrection from the dead, through which we are assured the promise of eternal life;

• The presence and power of the Holy Spirit of God in the work of regeneration; and

• The Bible as the inerrant, inspired Word of God.

Families from differing faith backgrounds are welcome to participate in CHEMPA. However,
CHEMPA is a Christ-centered organization that seeks to honor Biblical principles and glorify
the name of Jesus. All members are expected to participate in a manner consistent with these values.

Membership approval requires that each family read and agree to CHEMPA’s Standards of Behavior.

Standards of Behavior

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
— Psalm 133:1

CHEMPA seeks to maintain a high standard of behavior at all activities and events. As members,
we represent ourselves, our families, the homeschooling community, and Christ. Because homeschool
families are often under greater scrutiny, we ask that all members dress neatly and modestly and that
behavior be respectful, appropriate, and Christ-honoring.

Modesty and exemplary behavior cannot always be fully defined by a list of rules, and we recognize
that every possible ituation cannot be addressed in writing. For this reason, we ask each family to
prayerfully consider these standards before agreeing to membership. Please do not allow current
styles or commonly accepted behavior to negatively affect your judgment, as our standard is Christ
and not the world.

Particular care should be taken regarding unclean language and aggressive behavior. Parents are
responsible for the behavior and supervision of their children at all times during CHEMPA activities.
If a parent is unable to attend a specific activity, their child may attend only with another parent who
has agreed to assume responsibility for that child during the event. Children may not be dropped off
at any CHEMPA activity.

Teenagers, including those who are able to drive, must have an adult responsible for them at CHEMPA
activities. If a teenager will be driving themselves to an activity, the activity coordinator must receive
communication and permission from the parent during sign-up for that activity.

Non-members may not participate in CHEMPA-sponsored activities unless they have been pre-approved
by the activity coordinator.

Specific Guidelines

All members and participating families are expected to follow these guidelines at CHEMPA activities:

No abusive or foul language, gossip, or slander
No pushing, hitting, kicking, or aggressive play
No aggressive toys, including toy guns, knives, or similar items
Acceptance of correction and cooperation with any adult member
A cooperative and mannerly attitude toward all people during games and activities
Sensitivity to the safety and feelings of younger children
Respect for property and willingness to replace damaged property
No short shorts or bare midriffs
No public displays of affection between young adults of the opposite sex
Boys are to wear shirts during all activities, including sports
Quiet attentiveness during field trips and at other times when adults are speaking to the group

Handling Offenses

CHEMPA desires to handle concerns and offenses in a Biblical, respectful, and orderly manner.

Step 1

If you or your child has been hurt or offended, you must first approach the offending adult or the
parent of the offending child. If, for an extraordinary reason, you are unable to do this, you may
contact an officer for assistance in approaching the other party.

Step 2

After approaching the offending adult or the parent of the offending child, if you believe further
action is needed, you may contact an officer with your concern. The officer will gather information
from both sides and then consult with the President regarding the offense. A warning may be issued.

Step 3

If the same offensive behavior continues, the President will provide written notice to the offending
adult or the parent of the offending child outlining the substance of the complaint. The offending adult
or parent of the offending child will be asked to respond in writing to the President and/or to the offended
adult or parent of the offended child.

Step 4

In the rare event that offensive behavior continues, the offending adult or the parent of the offending
child may be placed on a period of probation.

If the offender is a child, the parent of the offending child must remain with the child at all times
during the probation period in order to observe and control the child’s behavior. If this supervision
is not effective, the officers may vote to revoke the membership of the family of the offending child.

If the offender is an adult and the offensive behavior continues, the officers may vote to revoke the
membership of the offender’s family. No refunds will be issued. If the family desires to return to the
group at any time after membership has been revoked, the request will be considered on a case-by-case
basis and voted on by the officers.

Acknowledgment and Agreement

By signing this i-Form, I acknowledge that I have read and understand CHEMPA’s Standards of
Behavior. I agree that my family and I will abide by these standards while participating in CHEMPA
activities and events.

I also understand that parents are responsible for the behavior and supervision of their children at
all CHEMPA activities, and that failure to follow these standards may result in corrective action,
probation, or revocation of membership as outlined above.
