PUBLIC Life Skills- Amaysing Meats tour
During this educational visit, the kids will learn about the role of a local butcher and the steps involved when a hunter brings a deer to a processing facility. They will discover how the butcher handles the deer, prepares the meat, separates different cuts, and turns the harvest into packaged meat that can be taken home and enjoyed.
The visit will help the kids understand the connection between hunting, wildlife, food, and providing for their families. They will also learn about respecting the animal, avoiding waste, and appreciating the work and responsibility involved in harvesting food.
What the kids will learn:
What happens when a hunter brings a deer to a butcher.
The basic steps involved in deer processing.
Where different cuts of venison come from.
How meat is handled, packaged, and prepared for families.
Why hunters should use their harvest responsibly and avoid wasting meat.
How hunting connects to providing food and caring for our families.
Our goal: For the kids to gain a better understanding of the journey from field to table, appreciate the work involved in processing wild game, and learn the importance of responsibility, gratitude, and using what God has provided.
Please note: This visit may include seeing raw venison or the actual processing environment. Parents should prepare children accordingly, and the group should follow the butcher’s safety and hygiene instructions.
