During the school year, Park Days are scheduled from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursdays at the park and pavilion behind Westwood Baptist Church.  

With warmer weather finally in the forecast, I suspect our Park Days will be booming from this point on.  We will even have access to the bathrooms again starting April 1st!  But the growing numbers also means that everyone needs to take time to review our Park Day guidelines: 

1)  Park Day is NOT a drop-off event, even for our MS/HS kids.  We do not have designated chaperons!  A parent or "fill-in parent" needs to be present.  That means your kids may attend if you are not there as long as they are under the supervision of another parent.  If a high school student is responsible enough to drive him/herself and his/her MS/HS siblings to the park, then we will assume they are responsible enough to be there without a parent.  But if there are any issues, their parent will be asked to attend.

2)  *NO* going into the deep woods, playing along the creek bank or crossing the creek!  The church does not want children playing unattended in the woods or along the creek.  The creek can be very dangerous after rains, and last week, a snake was found on the bank.  This rule applies to the teenagers, too!  We do not want our younger kids following older kids and then getting lost or in trouble. 

3)  Pick up trash and check for your belongings! Please help us leave the park and pavillion in better shape than we find it each week.  Let's bless the church by picking up not only OUR trash but the trash we find when we arrive.  This is a great way to thank the church for letting us use their facilities every week.  Also, remember to check for your belongings before leaving (jackets, backpacks, water bottles, etc.)

4)  Do not arrive before 12:45 p.m.  The church staff does maintenance of the grounds on Thursdays, so they have asked us not to arrive before 12:45 p.m.so they have plenty of time and space to do any mowing and maintenance work necessary.
