An Evening of Regency Dancing: A Jane Austen–Inspired Dance
Step into the world of Jane Austen for an elegant evening of Regency dancing, music, refreshments, and merriment!
Join us for a Jane Austen–inspired Regency Dance, featuring lively English country dances much like those enjoyed at assemblies and balls during the Regency era. Whether you have danced before or have never tried a historical dance, no prior experience is necessary!
A caller will guide everyone through the dances, teaching the movements and explaining what to do as we go. You don't need to memorize complicated steps or know anything about Regency dancing beforehand—just come ready to learn, dance, and have fun!
- Ages 12 and up
- $15 a person
What to Wear
Formal wear is required, and historical clothing is encouraged!
Regency-era clothing was fashionable during the early 1800s, the period associated with Jane Austen. For women, this might include a dress with a high waistline just below the bust, flowing skirts, short sleeves, gloves, shawls, or other accessories inspired by the era. Men might wear a waistcoat, dress shirt, trousers or breeches, a tailcoat, cravat, and formal shoes.
You do not need an historically accurate costume to participate. If you don't have Regency clothing, simply wear your nicest formal attire. Think elegant, romantic, and suitable for an evening at an old-fashioned ball.
