Who We Are
The Lake Effect Homeschool Association (LEHA), also known as the Royals, was formed as a Christian homeschool sports association in 2004, in order to provide competitive athletic opportunities to area homeschooling* families. LEHA provides competitive sports teams in a healthy environment that stresses teamwork, skill development, and honorable competition.

*Students of the Oswego Community Christian School (OCCS) are also eligible to compete as members of the Royals sports teams.

Brief History
The Royals began in 2004, after Southwest Christian School (SCS) discontinued its Homeschool Extension Program. Before that, homeschooling families were able to compete on the SCS teams. The benefit is that now all homeschooling families may participate in the Royals, regardless of affiliation to any particular homeschooling organization or co-op.

League Membership
Presently, the Royals compete in the Empire State Christian Athletic League (ESCAL), made up of small Christian schools and homeschool sports teams, in central New York.

Royals Sports Teams
Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and sometimes Track & Field, are offered. All teams are single gender and open to players in 6th-12th grade. Younger players might be allowed to join the competitive "travel" team, with permission of parents, the coach, and the athletic director. When possible, the Royals organize Junior programs to create a "feeder" program of younger players. The Royals use certified officials at contests, and carry liability insurance for all practice and home fields.

Team Cooperation (Teamwork)
The Royals' sports teams function because of the cooperation of all of our families. We take to heart the saying, "Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something." We assist one another by coaching, car-pooling, working the concession stand, and a variety of other tasks to help us function as a wholly volunteer organization. Our team truly becomes a family of families.
