WELCOME

A Christian Home Education Cooperative for the Western Communities

Flame is a small, Christ-centered co-op, with about 12-15 families and about 40 children. Each mom contributes to the co-op by teaching a class, assisting in another class, and serving in various ways to make our co-op days go smoothly.

Flame meets weekly (for a total of 24 weeks) from 9:15-2:00 pm on Tuesdays and has a group devotion time, three academic or elective classes, and an extended lunch/recess period designed to provide unstructured time for students, and moms, to develop organic friendships within the co-op. Classes are divided into grade levels: k-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6-8th, and 9-12th. Flame will also be potentially adding a 2-4yr old class for the 2024-2025 school year.

Flame uses various curriculum and the classes taught vary from year to year, depending on interest of the group and the availability of a mom to teach a particular class.

Each family contributes about $400 to rent space at a local church, pay for liablility insurance, and cover some general supplies. Individual classes may have additional supply fees.

Flame typically adds new members through the recommendation of a current member because a co-op model works best with a group of families who share similar approaches to homeschooling. Flameā€™s approach is faith-based, parent-taught, eclectic style classes, with an emphasis on hands-on learning in the younger grades.
