About Class Day

Class Day is a parent cooperative set up to provide group classes for home schooled students.

The classes are taught by parent volunteers and ALL parents are expected to participate and help while their children are at Class Day. A few classes are taught by outside hired teachers. These classes have a HEARTS parent in attendance to collect fees and ensure that the class is being taught according to our mission statement.

Class Day is held on Mondays in Hercules, CA. There are generally 12 Class Days in the Fall (Aug.-Nov.) and 12 Class Days in the Spring (Jan.-April). Some high school classes may meet extra Mondays in December and January.

Classes are geared to different age groups: High School, Junior High, Upper Elementary, Lower Elementary, and Preschool & Nursery. It is up to the parents to determine which classes are appropriate for their children.

Enrollment for Class Day begins in the Spring for returning families and ends the last day of July. (This allows the teachers time to prepare for their classes and the administration of Class Day to proceed smoothly). Class Day teachers have first priority when signing up for classes, then returning HEARTS families, and then if space permits, new families may join HEARTS and sign up for classes.

Class Day fees are used to pay for the church building rental and clean up. Individual class fees are paid separately to the instructors to cover their material, supply and copying costs for presenting the class.

Fees MUST be paid by the first Class Day meeting of each semester, unless special arrangements are made with the treasurer and/or instructor.
