In the next few years, companies will be facing a tremendous shortage of Computer Programmers. iLumina Tech, a company based here in Minneapolis is working on courses to train individuals in this area in order to help fill this gap. They have approached us to help with this effort. They are looking for 10 students to pilot their first level programming class. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the basics of how to code, explore this career field as well as include on your transcript or resume.
Class Description: Learn to Code 1 with Swift Playgrounds is a beginners class that teaches the fundamentals of programming using the Swift programming language and the Playgrounds application. This course is recommended as your first programming class.
Pre-Requisites: No Previous programming knowledge required. You do need to have an iPad with the iOS 10 operating system and preferably be a junior or senior in high school.
Meeting Times and Dates: We will meet twice a week for approximately two hours each session for four weeks. A total of 16 hours classroom time. There will be about 2-4 hours of homework each week with some of that being online.

Instructor: David Espindola. I’m Co-Founder of iLumina Tech, an EdTech company that prepares students for the careers of the future, and Founder of Brainyus, a digital technology company focused on communities, education, and marketing. Most recently, I served as CIO and trusted advisor to C-Level executives, developing and implementing global operations and IT strategies, and leading business transformation initiatives. Prior to that I worked for 10 years as a consulting leader at Oracle where I led the largest and most complex implementations at strategic accounts and sold several million dollars in software and services. Before Oracle I held leadership roles at two fast growing tech startups in Silicon Valley. One spun off into a successful business still operating today. The other grew five-fold during my tenure, reaching over $400M in revenues, resulting in a successful IPO. During this period I experienced first-hand how to grow technology startups into successful enterprises. Education: Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Volunteers with several Christian organizations.
