Team and Board of Directors

WEST began in 2009 and is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization offering tutor-based weekly classes for home-educated students in 5th through 12th grade.

Our class schedule allows parents and students to choose from a variety of tutorial courses taught by skilled and passionate tutors.

WEST allows for 90-minute academic sessions on Wednesdays in Rogers, MN and Monday & Tuesdays in Maple Grove, MN.

WEST is led by a team (see below) and Board of Directors

Robin Fraser, Director
Robin desires to support homeschoolers as they seek to teach and influence as well as love and empower their children.  As a homeschooler herself, Robin sees the need for homeschooling families to have educational options. Opening the doors of WEST has been a long time vision of Robin’s. She enjoys using her leadership experience and skill set at WEST.

Robin holds a degree in education – has taught in the inner-city public schools at the middle/junior high level.  In 1993, Robin won the Sallie Mae First Class Teacher of the Year Award for Wisconsin. She has also served as an inner-city youth director, worked in the corporate world and has served in church:  council member/teacher/event planner/ministry lead and more.

Robin is a home educator of 16 years.  She is the founder of the homeschool co-op Fellowship In Christian Homeschool Education (FICHE), co-founder of WEST and has earned certification as a Spiritual Director.

She and her family live in Maple Grove where they serve in their church, neighborhood and wider community.

Robin’s heart is to engage, encourage and empower parents and students in a variety of ways – one being WEST.

Julie Monseth, Registrar
Julie Monseth has been homeschooling her boys for the past 15 years.   She loves being part of the WEST team and believes strongly in the mission of WEST to support families in their homeschool journey.

Julie graduated from Northwestern College in Roseville,  MN with a degree in Elementary Education.  She spent 5 years as a Program Director for adults with developmental disabilities.  In 1998, Julie and her husband Nathan moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates to help start up an international school.  After three years of the expat life and the birth of their third son, they moved back to the US and have been settled in the community of St. Michael for the past 13 years.   Julie has owned her own piano studio for 13 years and enjoys sharing her love of music.

Julie has been in a variety of leadership roles in her homeschool co-op, and has also remained active in her local church with a passion for seeing woman come to know Jesus more intimately through the study of His Word.   Julie and her husband live in St. Michael with their five boys.

Sheri Simmer, Treasurer
Sheri Simmer has been a part of the homeschool community for over 13 years.  She is pleased to be a part of WEST and desires to help parents be successful in their homeschool journey.

After her time at Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, Sheri was a legal secretary for three years and spent eight years as an executive assistant at US Bancorp.  She and her husband started a home business in which Sheri has helped in various roles, including finance, for over 16 years.

Sheri has served in a variety of teaching roles with her homeschool co-op.  She and her family enjoy serving together in church and community settings.  Sheri and her husband, Jack, live in Buffalo with their five children.
