Do you have more details? The program is conducted at Ellington Field in a varied and exciting environment, giving students a new perception of the sciences. The curriculum consists of hands-on activities, a virtual reality mission to Mars or the Moon, interactive experiments, simulations and on-site tour of one of the following: National Guard, Coast Guard, or NASA aviation facilities. Classroom instruction includes Newton's Three Laws of Motion, the four forces of flight, Bernoulli's Principle, flight simulation, investigations of nanoengineered products, atmospheric properties, rocketry, engineering design process, and computer assisted design (CAD) and manufacturing. Students explore STEM career preferences, processes for positive personal goal setting and teamwork skills, the importance of staying in school, becoming a lifelong learner, and maintaining a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.  The students will also work with Cad program software on the computers as well as designing a space shuttle for an egg drop testing, geocaching, among many other fun activities. Certified educators teach the curriculum with assistance from Guard and community volunteers with technical and content expertise.

Please note: This opportunity is made possible by GCCHS volunteers like you! We will need a (1) couple of chaperones to stay in the classes, (2) about 12 drivers to transport the kids onto the base, and (3) gift purchasers. Let us know if you feel led to help with any of these roles.  These roles need to filled right away and earn volunteer credits (see volunteer credit information on the GCCHS website).   Room volunteers will earn enough credits for free gcchs membership 2024-2025 and free Palm Beach.  Drivers will earn enough credits for free Palm Beach.
