Statement of Faith and School Policies

Statement of Faith

The basis of South Bay Faith Academy, Inc. is the Word of God. In the light of God’s Word, we, in our education program, stand committed to the following:

1.

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation on His will for the salvation of men, and divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:19-21, Deuteronomy 4:2)
2. We believe Genesis 1–11 is a factual presentation of actual events and is the reliable account of the origin and history of life, mankind, the earth, and the universe.
3. We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Exodus 20:2-3, Matthew 28:19)
4. We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He now is our High Priest and Advocate who will one day return, with power and great glory, to judge the living and the dead. (Matthew 1:21-22, Matthew 24:30-31, Hebrews 1:3, Revelation 20:11- 15)
5. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (Romans 8:14-27)
6. We believe the creation of Adam (the first man) and Eve (the first woman) and their subsequent fall into sin is the basis for the necessity of salvation for mankind (Genesis 2:7, 2:17, 2:22–23, 3:6–20; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:45–49).
7. We believe all mankind are sinners, inherently from Adam and individually (by choice), and are therefore subject to God’s wrath and condemnation (1 Kings 8:46; Isaiah 53:6; Psalm 116:11; Proverbs 16:5; John 3:16–18, 3:36, 12:48; Romans 1:18, 3:23).
8. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God. (Romans 3:24, Romans 8:16, Ephesians 1:7, John 1:12)
9. We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. We believe that regular attendance in church worship, fellowship, and service is essential to the life and witness of the believer. (I Corinthians 12:13, Hebrews 10:25)
10. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment. (John 5:28, I Corinthians 15:52-53, Revelation 20:12-15)
11. We believe mankind, consisting of two genders (male and female), is created in the image of God. Each of these two distinct, complementary genders reflects the image of God. We believe the only legitimate marriage, based on the creation ordinance in Genesis 1 and 2, sanctioned by God is the joining of one naturally born man and one naturally born woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 1:26–28, 2:24, 5:2, 9:6; Matthew 5:27-30, 19:4–6; Mark 10:2-9; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 11:7; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; Hebrews 13:4; James 3:9–10).
12. We believe all human life is sacred and begins at conception (defined as the moment of fertilization). Each unborn child is a unique living human being, a person, created in the image of God, and must be respected and protected both before and after birth. (Genesis 9:6; Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17; Psalm 51:5; 1 Corinthians 15:49; James 2:11).
13. We believe all humans are made in the image of God, all humans have equal dignity and value regardless of age (including the unborn), intelligence, gender, physical ability, shade of skin tone, religion, ethnicity, or any other characteristic (Genesis 1:26–27, 3:20, 11:9; Acts 17:26–28).
14. We believe parents are responsible to instruct their children in Christian faith and conduct, to set before them godly and consistent examples of the same, and in every way to “bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:6–9; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4).

South Bay Faith Academy, Inc. is primarily a Christian ministry. It is operated to serve evangelical Christian families who are regularly attending their local church. In our communications and course of study materials, our spiritual orientation will be of primary importance. We hope to prove faithful to God and His Word as we accomplish the ministry of helping His people.

Summary of School Policies

  1. Each family will read and agree to abide by all the rules and regulations stated in the South Bay Faith Academy Handbook.
  2. Due to the ambiguous political legal position of private home education programs, South Bay Faith Academy cannot offer legal immunity and is only providing school services to assist parents in the homeschooling of their children.
  3. All families must be members of Home School Legal Defense Association and agree to abide by all their rules and regulations. The loss of HSLDA membership will result in disenrollment at SBFA.

    1. If both parents/legal guardians do not live at the same address but share custodial and educational choice rights, both parents/legal guardians must be informed and in agreement with homeschooling.

  5. The following are the responsibilities of the parents of SBFA:

Families who provide day care for other children may not bring them to Academy Day, unless prior approval has been received for extenuating circumstances.
  9. As we are to teach all things from a Biblical Worldview, Academy Day Teachers must teach from the Bible, not adding interpretations according to doctrinal or personal beliefs and opinions.
  10. The South Bay Faith Academy Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or expel any family/student who fails to abide by the rules and school policies contained in the SBFA Handbook. The services of the school are engaged by mutual consent, and either the parents or the school reserve the right to terminate any or all services at any time by written notification.
  11. In keeping with the standards set by the Bible, South Bay Faith Academy, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, or Christian denomination in the acceptance of students or staff.
