Microworlds- Students will use a high quality microscope to observe a variety of aquatic organisms including Elodea plant cells, paramecium, or other pond microorganisms.  They will prepare slides and draw cell structures.  This learning lab is further enhanced by the use of our "mono-zoom" video microscope and provisdes a windw into a knew and little known world of miniature life.

Southeaster Seashore Explorarations: An explanation of the Marine Lab's beautiful barrier island mural will introduce this learning lab on the ecology of the southeastern marine environment.  The instructor and students will explore the concept of an ecosystem and the various habitats portrayed in the mural.  This inquiry based discussion will then move to the role of organisms as producers, consumers or decomposers and their positions in food chains and webs.  Students will discover examples of the organisms in the Marins Lab's touch tank and then apply their knew knowledge to put together their own food chains and webs.
