Christina Barber To All Instructors

¡Hola! Soy Christina.

I’m so honored and thrilled to be a part of the Thrive community! I will be teaching the Spanish 1 High School course and the Middle School Spanish class on Thursday mornings.

My passion for the Spanish language began in 4th grade. My best friend at the time was Mexican and I spent a lot of time with her and her family. I found their language and culture to be so beautiful and intriguing, I ended up taking Spanish all four years of high school and then continued on through college!  After obtaining a bilingual teaching credential from CSU Fullerton, I spent the next eleven years in the public school system teaching in dual language classrooms across Los Angeles, Orange County and Oceanside.

When my son, Kanin, reached school age, I felt called to homeschool. In this new season, God blessed me with the opportunity to teach Spanish in the homeschool co-ops we became a part of. I can’t believe that I’ve been teaching Spanish to homeschoolers for over 15 years now! I hope to continue for several more!  I truly enjoy sharing my passion for Spanish with young people and creating fun lessons to help them truly learn it and feel confident using it outside the classroom setting.

Besides teaching, you’ll find me on a trail somewhere or walking on the beach, especially at sunset. Being in nature is my jam! I also enjoy live music, reading, cooking, doing puzzles, serving in local Christian outreach ministries and playing all different kinds of games.
