STATEMENT OF FAITH

John 15:5 reads: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." This verse is part of a larger passage where Jesus is teaching his disciples about the importance of remaining connected to him, just as branches need to stay connected to a vine in order to produce fruit.

We believe in the one true God, whose character and nature is revealed in Scripture. We believe the Fathers heart for fallen humanity is to redeem and restore sons and daughters to Himself. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father; who died for our sins, was buried, resurrected and is now seated at theFather’s right hand. We believe His Spirit produces good fruit in us as we obey His commands. We believe His Spirit equips and empowers his disciples with spiritual gifts, as is written in the New Testament.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are a Christ-centered community, dedicated to training & teaching our children at home and within a co-operative. We are called to make disciples in the context of family; shepherding sons and daughters “in the way they should go.” Like the church, each member is essential as we work together to obey God’s plan for Branch Christian Academy.

WHAT IS A CO-OP?

Co-op: A group of families who meet together and work cooperatively to achieve common goals.

COMMITMENT OF BCA STAFF

Our commitment to you is to partner with you to train up your child in the way they should go. We are assisting you in providing a solid foundation for your child’s academic and spiritual education. Since you are ultimately responsible foryour child’s education, we expect you to be involved at the co-op and at home. By joining our co-op you are committingto this partnership with us.

EXPECTATION OF EACH FAMILY

Tuition and Fees

BCA will order all curriculum for the students. The registration fee and curriculum fee and will cover all books needed forthe school year and is NON-REFUNDABLE. Any lost or stolen curriculum, as well as any shift in classes once curriculum is purchased will be replaced at the parent's expense.

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month between the months of August and May. A $25 will be assessed for non-payment by the 5th of each month. Non-payment by the 15th may result in being released from our program.

BCA is a 10 month commitment. You will still be held responsible for the full tuition amount if your student/s are withdrawn or expelled.

Volunteer

We are educating together, and need volunteers in all areas (e.g. cleaning, grading, assisting, recess duty, subbing, etc.). Although this is a drop-off program, we request that you volunteer as your schedule allows at least once per semester. We will release volunteer opportunities as they arise.

Work at home

Although we only meet in person 3 days per week, we are a 5 day a week program with Thursday and Friday beinghomeschool days. The teacher will assign students work for those days. It is the responsibility of both student and parent to ensure the assignments are completed by the following Monday. If the student is absent it is the parent’sresponsibility to make sure the missed assignments are completed before returning to school. Instructors do not have time to make up assignments or to review missed lessons. Each student will have an account on homeschoolminder.com where they can access assigned work. The student login information will be assigned at the beginning of the school year.

Attendance and Tardies

Worship begins promptly at 8:30am. We are committed to giving the Lord the first part of our day; therefore it is necessary to be on time. Students are expected to be in their class by that time. They may be dropped off between 8:15 and 8:30, and picked up between 2:15 and 2:30 through the car rider line.

Attendance is vital to the academic success of your child. Please be sure to have them in class as much as possible. If yourchild will be tardy or absent, please let their teacher know as soon as possible, and make arrangements to pick up theirmissed work.

Check-In/Check-Out Policy

If you are arriving late with your child, please walk them to the entrance located near the car line and ring the bell for entry and sign them in. If you are picking up early, please let the child's teacher(s) know in advance so they can have them prepared, and come to the entrance located near the car line and ring the bell for your child to be brought to you.

Early check-out should be no later than 1:30pm unless for emergencies. If anyone other than the parent or guardian is picking a child up the director or teacher must be notified.

Any student with a license to drive themselves and others including siblings must be checked out by the parent or guardian. No child will be allowed to leave with a student driver without permission from their parent or guardian. Students will not be allowed to leave campus on their own without going through the check out process.

Supplies

Each teacher will provide a list of student and classroom supplies that need to be turned in by the first day of co-op.

Internet, cell phone, and electronic device Policy

Students are to turn in all cell phones as soon as they come into class. They will not have access to them during schoolhours. In case of an emergency, they will be allowed to contact parents from the director or teachers phone. Parents are also encouraged to contact the director to reach their child. We also ask that smart watches not be used as communicationduring school hours.

Laptops and tablets will ONLY be allowed for use during their math class, or for research purposes under the instructionof their teacher. This is to ensure that we are doing everything possible to keep their hearts and minds pure during theirtime in the school with access to the internet.

Sick Policy

Students must be symptom free, and also be fever free (without the use of OTC fever reducing medications) for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Children should be able to eat and drink normally and have energy to participate fully in their school activities.

If your child is exhibiting any flu or covid symptoms we kindly ask that you keep siblings home as well.

Conflict Resolution

We strive to maintain the integrity of all relationships in our community, but understand that at times there are conflicts that arise. In these instances we ask that all persons involved in BCA adhere to the principles found in Matthew 18 for conflict resolution.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Safety measures include, but are not limited to:

Exterior doors remain locked at all times
Utilizing only one set of exterior doors at a time
Children do not go into undesignated areas without adult supervision
Teachers go in teams outdoors with students
Lock down procedures
Fire procedures
Cameras in all classrooms, hallways, lobbies, and chapel
Emergency contact and communication procedures
Background checks on all staff

Visitors

We welcome all parents to visit our campus at any time. We do ask that you let the director or your child’s teacher know in advance. You must check in to the visitor log and receive a tag upon arrival.

Any unwelcome visitor will be asked to leave the premises immediately. Failure to do so will result in police involvement.

BEHAVIOR AND THREAT POLICY

The safety and security of our children and staff is of top priority. That includes inappropriate, threatening, or violent behavior. All reports of concerning behavior will be investigated quickly and thoroughly. No student or staff should ever feel unsafe on our campus due to the misbehavior of others. Threats can include mental, physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. See more details of acceptable and unacceptable behavior in the student code of conduct.

Upon the report of any threatening or violent behavior we will conduct an assessment of risk for that particular individual involved in the incident. Based on the level of risk will determine the next steps will could include detention, suspension, or expulsion.

Guns, knives, or any other weapons are not allowed on campus, except for security purposes by authorized personnel only.

OTHER CAUSES FOR EXPULSION

Parents and/or students that do not adhere to the BCA handbook could be eligible for expulsion. We expect all family members to work with BCA staff to ensure an adequate learning environment.

STATEMENT OF PARENT COMMITMENT

We agree to

Honor the Lord by co-operating with Board Members, Teachers, Parents & Students of Branch Christian Academy.
Submit ALL non-refundable fees by June 1, 2024 and ALL monthly tuition on the 1st of each month beginning August 2024 and ending May 2025 (a $25 late fee will be added on the 5th of each month. (Non-payment by the 15th of each month may result in expulsion). We accept full responsibility for all tuition if our child(ren) are withdrawn or suspended (unless circumstances are beyond our control).
Volunteer upon availability.
Continue to be responsible for our child’s education; co-operating with teachers as they help train & teach our child(ren) in the way they should go.
Ensure our child(ren) completes their homework on Thursdays & Fridays as well as any missed work when absent from class (repeated failure to do so will result in expulsion).
Drop our child(ren) off in the car line between 8:15-8:30a and pick my child up in the car line between 2:15-2:30p.
Not come into the building before, during or after school without previous permission from the Director (for security; the building remains locked at all times).
Keep our child(ren) at home if they experience a fever 24 hours prior to class time or are exhibiting any sign of sickness.
Provide all necessary school supplies (not covered in tuition and fees) that our child(ren) need in class.
Remind our child(ren) that all handheld devices (phones, ipods, etc.) must be turned into their teacher upon arrival. Laptops/tablets may only be used for Math, Writing or Reading, which corresponds with curriculum.
Maintain our high school child(ren)’s transcript, knowing we are legally responsible for assigning classes and credits needed to complete Florida’s graduation requirements. We will submit an intent to graduate to the Director during our child(ren)’s final semester for permission to participate in Branch Christian Academy’s Graduation Ceremony in May.
Understand that children over the age of 19 are ineligible for enrollment.
Adhere to the principals of Matthew 18 which conflicts arise; speaking first with the Lord, then to the person (student, teacher, parent or director).

Not wear: shirts that reveals a bare mid-riff, halter tops, muscle tanks, low cut top or spaghetti straps (must be 4 finger width), skirts or shorts that are shorter than fingertip length, low rise short or pants, undergarments that are visible through tops or pants, clothing with obscene graphics, leggings without a shirt that covers my buttocks (Iunderstand that failureto submit to the dress policy will result in my parent/guardian being contacted to bringappropriate clothing. Repeatedrebellion against this policy will result in my expulsion)

Commitment to Financial Responsibility: I understand that submitting the application commits me to the financial obligations associated with my child’s enrollment at Branch Christian Academy, regardless of whether my child is expelled, withdrawn, or leaves the school for any reason.
Non-Refundable Fees: I agree that all tuition and fees are non-refundable, and I am financially responsible for any outstanding balances for the current school year, even if my child is not enrolled for the full term.

4. Membership and Re-Enrollment Policy

1. Annual Membership Review:

Membership for Branch is reviewed on an annual basis. Re-enrollment for returning members is not guaranteed and is subject to the discretion of the co-op leadership.

2. Re-enrollment Criteria:

Decisions regarding re-enrollment are based on the following factors:

   •   Consistent and respectful participation in co-op activities

   •   Adherence to co-op rules, policies, and agreements

   •   Contribution to a supportive and positive group environment

   •   Compatibility with the needs and dynamics of the co-op community

3. Positive Environment Requirement:

Our co-op strives to maintain a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for all participants. To protect this environment:

   •   Disruptive, harmful, or disrespectful behavior may result in a review of membership status.

   •   Feedback from group members may be considered when evaluating re-enrollment.

4. Leadership Discretion:

The leadership team reserves the right to make final decisions regarding membership, including the non-acceptance of re-enrollment applications, without further obligation to provide detailed reasoning.

5. Grievances:

We encourage open communication and will listen to concerns in good faith. However, decisions made in the interest of maintaining the co-op’s mission and positive atmosphere are final.
