In honor of fire safety week, our group will tour the Rescue 37 Fire Company and see several different types of fire trucks including some of the special equipment that is used such as the "jaws of life," etc. We will learn about the biggest causes of fires and how to prevent them, as well as learning what we should do in case of a fire.
We will see and hear a special firefighter in full gear with a working oxygen mask so the little ones can understand that this “creature” is their friend in a fire – not someone or something to hide from.
As the younger ones get to try on some of the equipment, the older students will learn about the training requirements for firefighters and the best way to get into that line of work as well as the difference between paid and volunteer firefighters.
Attached is the Fire Safety Certificate 10.22. Print it out and bring it along to have it signed by a real fireman.
