Join us as we spend the morning learning about the history of Dillsburg. It began with Matthew Dill way back in 1742 when he purchased over 500 acres and set about making a new life for his family. The existing stone structure was erected in phases with the oldest part being built in 1794.

We will tour the tavern and learn what life was like for a tavern keeper and a traveler in those days - you just might surprised! Costumed docents will discuss 18th and 19th century hearth cooking and food preservation. Your child (& you) will be even more grateful for today's appliances!

We will also tour the property where there will be an archaeological dig for the students to participate in. We will learn about carpentry, coopering, blacksmithing, gardening and all the other jobs that were necessary for life back then.

But not everything was work. We will also get to experience some of the games that the children played back then, too!

Note: our students will be broken into groups: K-6 and 7-12. There will be chaperones for the older group so if you have children that fall into both groups, you are welcome to stay with your younger ones.
