The Harrisburg Area Homeschoolers Association is pleased to invite all area parents that educate at home to join us for an evening of refreshment, inspiration, and information.
We hope you will consider joining other area homeschooling parents for our monthly "Refresh" activity. This event will replace what was previously called our monthly "Parent Meetings." The details for this month's activity are below:
Our topic of discussion this month will be "Rebooting, Instituting Fresh Ideas for Daily Improvement."
Between getting back in the “groove” of a daily routine and dreading those areas of school where your kids were previously struggling, past experience has shown that the winter months can sometimes present challenging circumstances that frequently lead to discouragement if not kept in check. Let us help you with that!
The definition of rebooting is "the act or instance of restarting." A new calendar year is a great time to wipe the slate clean! Come and glean some helpful information from other members as we share some practical tips of what has helped them to create an environment where not only are the students learning and growing all year long, but the parents are too.
Representatives of the HAHA Leadership Team will begin the evening by highlighting some key areas of everyday life that tend to get out of control. By examining those areas, we hope to provide you with some tools to create systems that will help you not only keep them in check but also be able to see measurable progress. We will have round table discussion so we can learn from each other and then come back together again to hear ideas from the entire group.
The January Refresh will be held on Thursday evening, January 23, 2014 on the second floor Community Room at the Camp Hill Giant on Trindle Road. The stairs leading to the second floor are located just past the fireplace area near the bathrooms. There will be signs upstairs pointing you to the Refresh meeting room. (An elevator is also available) Anyone wishing to grab a snack or coffee in the café area of the Giant should do so prior to the start of the meeting. You are welcome to bring it with you upstairs.
The structured part of this activity will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. However, individuals wishing to stay longer are invited to join us for continued informal discussion in the fireplace area downstairs. As the store is open 24 hours, you are welcome to stay as long as you like J
You do not need to be a member to attend. Cyber schooling parents as well as traditional homeschoolers are both welcome. While not every month’s topic appeals to both, this month’s topic should definitely be helpful to all that educate at home.
There is no charge to attend. However a good will offering will be taken. Proceeds from that offering will be used to purchase useful materials related to the homeschooling journey and the submitted as donations to local libraries.
