All About Evaluators

This month's parent meeting will cover the topic of evaluators.  We will discuss the following and more:

What the evaluator's role and responsibilities are

Why it's important to find one that is like-minded

What types of questions should you be asking when searching for one

What to expect during your evaluation

In addition to hearing from our leadership team on these topics, we will also have a guest evaluator, Jessica Allen.  She will share from her heart on her personal experience in evaluations. See her bio below.

There is no charge to attend this FREE event.

Contact person:  Jamey McClintock at hahaofpa@live.com or 712-5352

Jessica Allen is an unschool mom who enjoys exploring the fields and forests of Pennsylvania with her artist-husband and ten-year-old son, a budding historian.  She shares their experiences on her blog, Cattails and Cobwebs.   When she isn't lying on the damp earth photographing millipedes, she is quietly starting a revolution, tirelessly reminding her fellow homeschoolers it really is possible to meet the state requirements while nurturing their children’s unique passions.

As a homeschool evaluator and consultant she offers parents suggestions for personalizing instruction, recognizing each child's learning style, and making record-keeping creative and fun.  She enjoys talking with new-to-homeschooling parents and those considering unschooling.

Allen is Pennsylvania-certified in Secondary English Education and holds a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum (with a focus on Human Rights Education).  Her professional research has been published in Pennsylvania Educational Leadership and a personal essay about her family's transition to unschooling (while she was in treatment for breast cancer) is featured in the current issue of Home Education Magazine.
