Come join us as we visit a local ministry....
"Located near Gettysburg, PA, Shining Stars Therapeutic Ministries (SSTM) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide therapeutic horsemanship programs to children, adults & families with special needs in order to improve physical, mental, emotional and social areas of their lives. [Shining Stars] serves local communities, generally in Adams and York Counties, PA, with student registration open to anyone 3 to 80+ years old with special needs. Instructor-guided exercises, activities and games provide opportunities for student challenge and progress, as well as a means of recreation & enjoyment. We have received many client referrals from surgeons, neurologists, hospitals, schools, etc., with recommendations from Hershey Medical Center, the Mental Health/Mental Retardation organization, and United Cerebral Palsy."
The program’s director will explain the ministry and how it operates. (There will be brochures available) We will see some of the horses, feed them treats, and even be able to pet them! We are hoping to be able to demonstrate a mini-horse driving a cart.
