Co-op Details

Home Grown Hearts Nappanee

Semester Schedule: Our co-op has a Fall Semester that usually begins the last Thursday of August and runs for 12 consecutive weeks, meeting once a week on Thursdays. Our Spring Semester usually begins the first Thursday in February and also runs for 12 consecutive weeks. We do not have make up days. We sometimes take a one week break for spring break, this does not take away one of the 12 weeks.

Location: Nappanee Missionary Church, 70417 SR 19, Nappanee, IN

Fee: $40 per family, per semester. This non-refundable fee is used for website costs, supplies, copies, snacks and class expenses. Small additional fees may occasionally be requested for some class options. Field trip fees are additional also.

Co-op Day Schedule: Our co-op day begins at 9 am with a time of prayer, announcements and worship. Classes then begin at 9:20 am and run for 45 minutes each with a 5 minute passing period between each class. Co-op ends at 12:35 pm.

Class Options: Classes vary each semester and are elective-style classes. Classes range from art, crafts, music, science labs, creative writing, drama, physical education, literature, history, and much more. Class options for each semester are based on what individual members of the group are willing to teach. A brainstorming session will be held before each semester for class options to be decided.

Age/Grade Groups: Classes are offered in 5 groups: Nursery (infant - 2 yrs), Pre-K (3-5 yrs), K/1 (kindergarten-1st grade), Elementary (grades 2-5), and Jr/Sr High (grades 6-12).

Participation: Student and parent participation is required in all class hours. Parents must provide teaching or class assistance during three of the class hours. Each parent will be a part of a Prayer Group during one of the 4 class hours. These prayer groups are a wonderful time for fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual renewal. Also, two times a semester, each family will be given a specific cleaning duty at the end of an assigned co-op day. This light cleaning duty should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.
