Cass County Home Educators (CCHE) is a support group for homeschooling families. CCHE provides opportunities for parents and their children to form relationships within the homeschool community by way of field trips, social events, and group activities. In addition, CCHE provides an atmosphere for the exchange of teaching techniques and curriculum information, pertinent homeschool current events, and information regarding seminars and conferences. In all of these activities, Cass County Home Educators represents the homeschool community in a manner that honors Jesus Christ, and upholds the Christian faith as outlined in the Bible.

3. CCHE Statement of Faith

We welcome all families with similar goals and requirements to join us in our journey to give our children the best education possible. Many members have found a common focus of Christian faith. Expressions of faith, including, but not limited to prayer, are freely shared at many meetings and activities, and are protected within the bounds of CCHE membership. This common bond is encouraged but is not a prerequisite for membership. The board reserves the right to take any action it sees fit, up to and including termination, to protect all our members' freedom to express faith as outlined in the Bible from persecution or harassment.

4. CCHE Framework and Policies:

The leadership team evaluates the framework and policies annually, appealing to the Lord for His direction and wisdom. The general framework may change, and policies may be added or improved, as needs in the group warrant. Members are encouraged to give input at any time, as well as periodic member surveys.

5. Volunteering Requirement

I understand I am required to help in some way this year. By checking this box, I commit to volunteering in some way, and reporting to the board via email when this is completed. I understand if I choose to forgo this requirement, I may not be eligible to renew my membership next year.

Field Trip Rules and Payment Information

I understand Field Trips are initiated and planned by a volunteer Field Trip Coordinator. If no cne volunteers to coordinate an event, it may be deleted from the calendar.
I understand Field Trip rules are enforced.
I understand the signed liability form is required as a reminder that I, the parent, am responsible for the safety of my children.
I understand I am responsible for carefully reading the details of a signup before agreeing to attend, I understand signing up is a commitment to pay all fees associated with the event as outlined in the sign up.
I understand that field trips MUST be paid at least 24 hours prior to the field trip, when stated on the sign up.
I understand if I sign up for a trip with prepaid tickets, and am unable to attend, CCHE will not reimburse me for the unused pre-paid tickets. I may able to sell them to another family, but I must do so myself. CCHE will not facilitate this transaction in any way.
I understand if I choose to sign up for events requiring payment and do not pay, the board reserves the right to review and limit my membership, up to and including termination.
I understand that events may be cancelled due to lack of volunteer support, and I will not hold the board of CCHE accountable for the cancellation.

7. CCHE events and field trips are for members only, with the exception of the August kick off event, mom’s night out events, and events where prior communication that guests can attend has been made.

Your family’s membership fee covers your own immediate family (mom, dad, and children in your home ages birth through senior in high school) and does not include any guests. We, of course, understand there are circumstances that may require a grandparent or a friend to bring your child(ren), but please reach out to the board for approval before adding a non-parent to your family group on the website.

8. Facebook Group Policies

CCHE members are highly encouraged to use the CCHE Facebook group as an avenue for connecting with other families and receiving timely updates about field trips, events, and organization news. It is a private group: non-members will not be allowed to view this page or join as a member. The page may be used for connecting with other families for support, suggestions, and discussion of personal, political, and faith-based topics as they relate to homeschooling. We understand such topics may be unavoidable, but the board reserves the right to delete any post that is not directly homeschool-related, at the discretion of the board.

Please ensure your posts and comments follow our rules for interpersonal communication as outlined in this document. If in doubt about what may or may not be appropriate, please ask the board first before posting. The board reserves the right, at their own discretion, to delete any posts or comments that are inflammatory, controversial, or inappropriate for our group. If such behavior persists, the board reserves the right to terminate membership for repeated incidents.

Any advertisements must first be approved by the board of events such as Vacation Bible School, other homeschool events not sponsored by CCHE, or any other events that may be of interest to the families of our group. You must email or contact a board member before posting. 9.

Privacy Guidelines

I agree to keep any personal contact information regarding other CCHE members confidential and not share it with anyone else.
I understand CCHE's commitment to keep my information private, and will not share membership information with third parties except in instances where I give my permission to do so.
I understand CCHE may choose to send me emails periodically containing important information about my membership.
I understand member information should never be used for mass email distribution, mass mail communication, or for solicitation.
I understand any violation or substantiated allegation will result in discipline as decided by our board, up to and including termination of my membership in CCHE.

10. Vendors at Events

Per our mission statement in paragraph one of this document, CCHE devotes itself to supporting homeschool families. We do not endorse any specific curriculum, or method of learning. We support the resale of used homeschool items in periodic posts in our Facebook group, and we also provide a place to advertise your business in separate periodic posts. We also may allow members of our group to advertise self-made items directly relating to homeschooling, excluding curricula, at our kickoff picnic in August. We reserve the right to evaluate, grant, or deny this on a case-by-case basis.

11. Resolving Conflict

CCHE applies a biblical approach to interpersonal communication and conflict resolution. We encourage our members to remember the admonition found in Colossians 3:11-15,

"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."

We also adopt the conflict resolution procedure found in Matthew 18:15-17,

‘Moreover, if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector."

CCHE insists our members approach interpersonal conflict in the following manner:

Address the member you have a problem with directly, alone, and explain in a gentle manner what you have found offensive, speaking with truth and love. Try in earnest to reach a resolution.
Do not discuss the situation with other members or try to involve any other members except the board if necessary.
If you believe you cannot resolve the situation on your own, please bring the matter to a member of the CCHE board.
If you bring the matter to the board, you agree to abide by the decision the board makes regarding the matter.

The CCHE board reserves the right to review any conflict and make membership decisions, up to and including termination.

I understand my membership may be terminated at the discretion of the CCHE board if I choose to disregard this policy. 12. Not Legal Counsel

I understand legal services are in no way provided by CCHE or its board. While we may offer suggestions as to where to find legal information about homeschooling and share our personal experiences following the law, it is beyond the scope of our expertise to offer legal advice of any kind concerning homeschooling.

We strongly encourage membership in HSLDA. 13. Liability Waiver

I, my heirs, assigns, and/or next of kin, hereby waive and release, indemnify, hold harmless and forever discharge Cass County Home Educators (CCHE), any of its associations, members, family members, or the personal homeowners insurance of any members from any and all claims, demands, debts, contracts, expenses, causes of action lawsuits, damages and liabilities of every kind and nature for any damage to person(s), child/children or personal items, including lost or stolen items, during any meetings, field trips or any other activities organized by CCHE or by any of its volunteer members.

I fully understand the above information presented to me in this Waiver of Liability. I have also received and I will abide by the Cass County Home Educators Policy and Terms of Membership 2025-2026.
