Membership to Connections is $35/family per year. Your membership dues go towards this website membership and our group liability insurance.

*Annual $35 renewal for current members occurs on January 1st each year.*

Connections Membership Registration Payment:

After filling out the following online application form, you will wait for an email from the administrator that indicates you have been approved as a member. You will then use your username/password that you created during the registration process to log into the website and pay your $35/family yearly fee. This will have to be paid within 48 hours or your membership will be paused.

Once you become a member of Connections Homeschool Resource Center, you will receive online access to our members’ website, calendar, event sign-ups, private Facebook group, and more.

However, we understand that from time to time students will be absent. If a student is absent, he/she is required to make-up missed assignments and return to instructor within 2 weeks of missed class. TARDINESS: If students arrive more than 15 minutes late for their class, they will be asked to go to study hall, and their tardy will count as an absence. If they are less than 15 minutes late for the class, the instructor will not go over missed work with them upon their arrival to class. It is their responsibility to find out what they missed. The instructor is happy to explain anything missed with them while other students are working independently. LATE WORK: Work may be submitted late up to two weeks after original due date with a late penalty of 20% per week. 8. ELECTRONIC DEVICES: I agree that as a general rule, students will not be allowed to use any electronic devices during class. This includes laptops, phones, ipods, tablets etc. If an electronic device is brought out during class, the teacher will collect the device and return to the student after class. The safety of our students and teachers is our main concern.
Students should refrain from going to the bathroom together at any time.
Please be respectful of the furniture and space at our facility.
Students are not allowed to roam parking lot or be outside of the facility before and after class or during breaks without parent or other adult chaperone.

10. LAB AND KITCHEN SAFETY: Upon checking yes, I agree that my student will follow the lab and kitchen safety rules. Science is a hands-on laboratory class. You will be doing many laboratory activities which require the use of hazardous chemicals. Safety in the science classroom is the #1 priority for students, teachers, and parents. To ensure a safe science classroom, a list of rules has been developed and provided to you in this student safety contract. These rules must be followed at all times.

Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the laboratory.
Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. If you do not understand a direction or part of a procedure, ask the instructor before proceeding.
Never work alone. No student may work in the laboratory without an instructor present.
When first entering a science room, do not touch any equipment, chemicals, or other materials in the laboratory area until you are instructed to do so.
Do not eat food, drink beverages, or chew gum in the laboratory. Do not use laboratory glassware as containers for food or beverages.
Never fool around in the laboratory. Horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks are dangerous and prohibited.
Know the locations and operating procedures, where appropriate, for all safety equipment including first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Know where the fire exits are located.
Be alert and proceed with caution at all times in the laboratory. Notify the instructor immediately of any unsafe conditions you observe.
Keep hands away from face, eyes, mouth and body while using chemicals or preserved specimens. Wash your hands with soap and water after performing all experiments. Clean all work surfaces and apparatus at the end of the experiment. Return all equipment clean and in working order to the proper storage area.
Report any accident (spill, breakage, etc.) or injury (cut, burn, etc.) to the instructor immediately, no matter how trivial it may appear.

11. ATHLETIC CONSENT FORM: I hereby acknowledge that certain risks of injury are inherent to participation in recreational and athletic activities that may occur at Connections Homeschool Resource Center. These risks and dangers may be caused by the action, inaction, or negligence of the participant or others. There may be other risks not known or reasonably foreseeable at this time. I accept and assume such risks and responsibility fo the losses and/or damages following such injury, however caused, and whether causedin whole or in part by the negligence of the student/participant at Connections Homeschool Resource Center. If the student/participant has a temporary restriction (sickness, sprain, or soreness), I will inform the appropriate instructor in writing. I am aware of the inherent risk of injury involved in athletic participation. 12. CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE: I agree to the following policies. From time to time, our students do not always make the best choices in our classrooms. While we encourage everyone to have fun and be themselves, we must also have self-control and follow the rules. Teachers deserve to be respected and students deserve to be able to learn and have fun without fear of safety.

Classroom Discipline Policy:

Warning - The first time a students’ name is called will be his/her warning.
Class Removal - The second time a student's name is called, he/she will be sent to study hall for the remainder of the class.
After 3 removals, the parents will need to meet with the administration to determine if Connections Homeschool Resource Center is a right fit for their child. In the event that the student leaves Connections Homeschool Resource Center, any tuition or fees paid will NOT be refunded.

13. BULLYING POLICY: I agree to the following bullying policy. We have a “no tolerance” approach to bullying other students. We define bullying as teasing, talking about hurting someone, spreading rumors, leaving kids out on purpose, and attacking someone by hitting them or yelling at them. Bullying does not always happen in person. It also happens online or through text messages or email. We DO NOT tolerate any form of bullying. All students have the right to participate free of such attacks. In the event that bullying occurs, the following will happen:

First instance: Meeting with parents, student that is bullying, teacher and Principal to discuss incident. A verbal warning will be given and student is required to apologize or leave Connections Homeschool Resource Center immediately. Any tuition or fees paid will NOT be refunded.
Second instance: Student will be asked to leave Connections Homeschool Resource Cente immediately. Any tuition or fees paid will NOT be refunded. Connections is a place to grow and find yourself, a place to belong. We absolutely refuse to let any student hurt another student by bullying.

14. CLOSINGS AND MAKE-UP CLASSES: I agree to the following policies. In inclement Weather, we follow Elkin City Schools inclement weather closings. So, if school is closed or dismisses early due to weather, we will NOT have classes. We also reserve the right to make a decision about cancellation based on the weather conditions affecting the majority of our families. In the event of a closing, your child’s teacher will be in contact with you about a make-up class or assignments. This may include getting on a live Zoom call (if possible) or having an alternate assignment posted on Google Classroom. yes

15. MEDICAL AND HEALTH SAFETY: I agree to the following policies. The safety of staff and students is the most important thing to us. Please be advised of the following guidelines for attendance at Connections Homeschool Co-op:

Hand sanitizer is available at the welcome center of the facility, and soap and hot water is available in bathrooms for sanitizing hands.
If a student becomes sick at Co-op, they will be removed from their class, a parent called to pick them up, and the facility will be disinfected.
Anyone who is feeling sick, has a fever, or has symptoms of any contagious sickness should remain at home.
Anyone who has been in close contact with someone with any contagious sickness should remain at home.
In the event of another health scare, we will implement our emergency Medical and Health Safety plan and follow all guidelines outlined by the state.
There is a chance you could be exposed to illness at Connections Homeschool Resource Center, just as you might be exposed at the grocery store, church or your favorite restaurant. Although exposure is very unlikely, by attending Connections, I understand that I may be putting myself at a health risk.

16. SEMI-FORMAL DANCE AND PROM CONTRACT: I agree to the following policies. We are excited to offer dances as a social opportunity for Connections Homeschool Resource Center students! Since these dances are a privilege, a student loses his or her privilege of attending the next dance if he or she breaks one of the conduct rules outlined below. All dances begin at 6:00 pm and end promptly at 9:00 pm unless otherwise noted.

CONDUCT AT SCHOOL DANCES

Connections Homeschool Students are expected to obey all dance rules and to conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen at all times.
Students are not to arrive before 6:00 p.m. (Doors will not open until 6:00pm)
Students are to remain in the building at ALL times during the dance.
Bathrooms are to be used for their intended purposes. Students are not to spend the evening in them or go to the bathroom together.
Students are to treat all teacher and parent chaperones courteously and follow the instructions they are given.
Students should not be on cell phones at the dance.

MUSIC RULES:

We will not take requests from students for music.
All music is approved by Connections Homeschool Resource Center Leaders.
Music chosen will be a mix of Christian and secular music. All music will be clean in nature and void of vulgar/suggestive themes or cursing.

RULES FOR DANCING:

Students are expected to dance upright. Students are not to dance down on the floor.
Students are not to crowd together. When standing or dancing as a group, students must leave enough space in between them to allow for a person to walk through easily and for an adult to see into the center of the circle.
Students are to dance face-to-face or side-to-side. Students are not to dance front to back.
During slow dances, there is to be visible space between dancers.

GIRLS' DRESS CODE:

Dresses should be of an appropriate style for a school function.
Dresses may be strapless (if they fit properly) or include spaghetti straps.
Dresses may be backless, as long as they are not cut below the naval.
2-piece dresses may only show a modest amount of midriff .
Dresses may not have a slit that exceeds mid-thigh.
Dresses may not be cut below the bust line.
Dresses can not have cuts, slits in them exposing skin underneath.
Undergarments should not be visible. See-through apparel is not permitted.

BOYS' DRESS CODE:

Boys are to wear dress slacks (not jeans), collared shirts, ties and appropriate shoes (not sandals) to the dance. Sport coats are not necessary.
No shorts, sagging pants or collarless shirts will be allowed.

Students who are in violation of these rules will receive one warning from a chaperone, teacher, or administrator. Students who continue to misbehave will be taken to a teacher or an administrator and may be asked to call a parent/guardian to pick them up and not allowed to attend the next dance.

17. RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT: By typing my name/signature, I agree that:

The parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) will instruct the minor participant that prior to participating in the activity or event at Connections Homeschool Resource Center (CHRC), he or she should inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if he or she believes anything is unsafe, the participant should immediately advise the officials of such condition and refuse to participate. I understand and agreed that, if at any time, I feel anything to be UNSAFE, I will immediately take all precautions to avoid the unsafe area and REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE further.
I/WE fully understand and acknowledge that there are risks and dangers associated with participation in events and activities which could result in bodily injury, partial and/or total disability, paralysis and death. The social and economic losses and/or damages, which could result from these risks and dangers described above, could be severe. These risks and dangers may be caused by the action, inaction or negligence of the participant or the action, inaction or negligence of others, including, but not limited to CHRC. There may be other risks not known to us or are not reasonably foreseeable at his time.
I/WE accept and assume such risks and responsibility for the losses and/or damages following such injury, disability, paralysis or death, however caused and whether caused in whole or in part by the negligence of CHRC.
I/WE HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE the CHRC facility used by the participant , including its owners, managers, promoters, lessees of premises used to conduct the CHRC event or program, premises and event inspectors, underwriters, consultants, and others who give recommendations, directions, or instructions to engage in risk evaluation or loss control activities regarding the CHRC facility or events held at such facility and each of them, their directors, officers, agents, employees, all for the purposes herein referred to as “Releasee”...FROM ALL LIABILITY TO THE UNDERSIGNED, my/our personal representatives, assigns, executors, heirs and next to kin FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES OR DAMAGES AND ANY CLAIMS OR DEMANDS THEREFORE ON ACCOUNT OF ANY INJURY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE DEATH OF THE PARTICIPANT OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE EVENT(S) CAUSED OR ALLEGED TO BE CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEE OR OTHERWISE.
I/WE HEREBY acknowledge that THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EVENT(S) ARE VERY DANGEROUS and involve the risk of serious injury and/or death and/or property damage. Each of THE UNDERSIGNED also expressly acknowledges that INJURIES RECEIVED MAY BE COMPOUNDED OR INCREASED BY NEGLIGENT RESCUE OPERATIONS OR PROCEDURES OF THE RELEASEES.
EACH OF THE UNDERSIGNED further expressly agrees that the foregoing release, waiver, and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the law of the Province or State in which the event is conducted and that if any portion is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding continue in full legal force and effect.
On behalf of the participant and individually, the undersigned partner(s) and/or legal guardian(s) for the minor participant executes this Waiver and Release. If, despite this release, the participant makes a claim against any of the Releasees, the parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) will reimburse the Releasee for any money which they have paid to the participant, or on his behalf, and hold them harmless.

To participate with Connections Homeschool Resource Center, my child must be in a good state of health while in attendance.
I understand that any field trips and costs associated are at my own expense. In the event of a field trip, you may be asked to drive.
I understand that transportation is not provided by Connections Homeschool Resource Center. I am responsible for the transportation of my child to any and all events, club meetings, and field trips.
I understand that at Connections Homeschool Resource Center, students are dropped off for class. Parents or guardians should not remain with student. If a parent or guardian wishes to stay with student, they will need to sit in their vehicle.
As a parent, it is my responsibility to check the Parent Portal on Facebook to make myself aware of any announcements or upcoming news.
I understand that my students should arrive on time for class. I am aware that if they arrive 15 minutes late for class, they will be asked to sit in Study Hall and it will count as an absence.
I am responsible for signing report cards and returning to the teacher the following week.
I understand the tuition policies and agree to pay tuition in a timely manner.
I understand that a parent from all participating families (Middle and High School only) are required to volunteer once per year as a monitor (all three blocks). In the event that I cannot participate, I understand that I can opt out for a $20 yearly fee. This fee will be used to pay a monitor on your behalf.
In the event an issue arises in the classroom, I understand that it is my responsibility to contact administration about the problem immediately, rather than going to other parents.
I understand Connections Homeschool Resource Center operates as a school in that, the teacher is responsible for curriculum and will set all guidelines for your child to grow and learn in a classroom setting.
I understand that teachers have consulted the North Carolina educational standards in creating their curriculum. In the event, an issue arises with curriculum, I will address with the administrator immediately.
I agree that Connections Homeschool Resource Center, the Staff , the Volunteers, and the Administrators are hereby released from all claims arising out of an accident or mishap that may occur in connection with the operation of Connections Homeschool Resource Center.
I understand that my family has the freedom to wear whatever they want at Connections Homeschool Resource Center. However, we agree to refrain from any revealing clothing and inappropriate language or innuendos on clothing.
I understand that Connections Homeschool Resource Center is not affliated with a religious organization. However, many staff and families involved are Christians. References to Christ, Christian, Christian living and missions may be heard during class, and curriculum may be presented with a Christian worldview.
I also understand that bullying, foul language, verbal or physical aggressions from students or parents will not be tolerated. In addition, we will not tolerate disrespect of any kind from parents or children. We strive to provide an environment of mutual respect and understanding regardless of background, ideas or views. In the event that this agreement is violated, the offending family will be asked to leave Connections Homeschool Resource Center.
