Now That I've Decided to Homeschool, What Should I Do Next?

Step One:
You need to be sure that you are in compliance with the South Carolina laws. In SC, you have three options to choose from in order to be legal. If you are looking for a Homeschool Accountability group you might consider HOPE (Homes Of Prayerful Education).  HOPE operates under the third option of the SC homeschooling law, if you are interested in more information about them click here. 

Step Two:
Complete the online application and mail your membership fees to:

CHOICE does not currently accept for membership families who are using the Virtual Charter School offered by the public school system within their homes.  For a copy of our stance on Virtual Charter Schools, please send your request to

Step Three:

Begin your search for what you plan to teach. Choosing curriculum that is right for your child is one of the most important steps in creating a successful homeschool environment. 

Step Four:
During the 180 day school year you are expected to keep the following records:

  •   Daily Lesson Plans or diary
  •   Progress Report
  •   Portfolio of Samples of Student's Work
  •   Daily Attendance Record
