Mrs. Karen Dahlquist To All Instructors
Karen, founder of happyfish design, brings nearly 30 years of professional graphic design experience to the classroom. Originally from North Vancouver, British Columbia, she holds a Bachelor in Applied Design from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and has explored a wide range of creative disciplines—fine arts, textile design, ceramics, drafting, interior architecture, web design, graphic design, publishing, illustration, and even some video editing just for fun. Her career highlights include designing and coordinating high-end projects for Kapalua Resort in Maui and designing thousands of custom photo books for professional photographers and their clients around the world. Karen’s clientele spans from solo entrepreneurs to global corporations across a wide variety of industries with projects of all kinds (print, screen, signage, products, catalogs, marketing collateral, branding, visual identity, curriculum, and so much more.) One of her favorite client projects today is an ESL curriculum series that is reaching people all over the world in back-alleys and fields as a mission to spread the gospel!
Married to fellow creative Chad for 26 years, Karen has also homeschooled their children and been actively involved in homeschool communities since 2011. She believes lifelong learning and creativity are gifts from God—who created us to create—and she’s passionate about helping the next generation learn to think like a designer: to listen well, communicate clearly, adapt to challenges, solve problems creatively, and serve others with excellence, all while growing practical, real-world skills.
