What type of program is The Grove Christian Academy?

The Grove is a one-day-per-week Christian drop-off program for homeschooled middle and high school students who want live, in-person classes outside the home. Our goal is to provide comprehensive and interesting classes that can help families meet their homeschool educational goals.

The Grove is not a school but a learning/tutoring facility that partners with homeschooling families.

What is the benefit of being a student at The Grove Christian Academy?

The Grove gives homeschooled students the opportunity to receive live, in-person instruction while attending classes only one day per week. Our instructors enjoy the subjects they teach and provide instruction, assignments, assessments, and recommended grades.

Students also have the opportunity to build friendships, participate in social activities, and be part of a Christian community.

Does The Grove Christian Academy accept ESA?

Yes! The Grove is an ESA-friendly program. Families may use ClassWallet/ESA funds for eligible tuition and fees.

Families using ESA funds are responsible for submitting payments and monitoring their ClassWallet accounts to ensure payments are approved and completed by the applicable deadlines.

What ages can participate in The Grove Christian Academy?

The Grove offers classes for middle and high school students, beginning in 7th grade. Individual classes are designed for specific grade levels, which are listed in the class descriptions.

If you have a younger advanced student who may be academically ready for a Grove class, please contact us to discuss whether the class would be an appropriate fit.

Are there any parent involvement or volunteer requirements?

No. Parents are not required to volunteer at The Grove.

However, we love parent involvement! Opportunities may include helping with student check-in, special events, parties, instructor appreciation, or other needs throughout the year.

Is The Grove a drop-off program?

Yes. Parents may drop students off for their registered classes and pick them up after their final class.

Students who have a gap in their schedule must be registered for study hall or another available class during that period.

Students who drive themselves may leave after their final class. Students may not leave campus, go to their vehicle, or transport another student off campus during their Grove day without appropriate permission.

Does my student have to be a Christian to attend?

No. Students are not required to be Christians to attend The Grove. However, The Grove is a Christian organization, our instructors are Christians, and classes are taught from a Biblical worldview. Students and families are expected to respect The Grove's Christian beliefs and values.

How do students get the books and curriculum needed for each class?

Instructors will provide families with information about required curriculum, books, notebooks, supplies, or other materials needed for each class.

Some classes may also have curriculum, lab, or supply fees.

How do I register my student for classes?

Families begin by completing the Membership Application through The Grove website.

Once accepted, families will pay the $75 Family Application Fee and $200 Annual Registration Fee per student. Families may then register their students for available classes.

A non-refundable class deposit is required at registration to reserve a student's place in each class.

Is The Grove Christian Academy accredited?

No. The Grove is a tutoring and learning facility that provides classes to homeschooled students. Parents remain the primary educators and are responsible for maintaining their student's homeschool records and transcript.

Student Related

What does my student do if they have a gap between classes?

Students must be in a registered class or study hall during each period they are on campus.

Students may not leave campus during a gap in their schedule and return for a later class.

Can my student leave during the day to get lunch or coffee?

No. Students must remain on campus until their final class is complete and should bring any food or drinks they will need for the day.

Students may not go to their vehicles during the class day without permission.

Lunch takes place in the gym, and students are expected to remain in the designated lunch area unless given permission by Grove staff.

What is the dress code at The Grove?

Students are required to wear The Grove Christian Academy uniform during regular Friday class days.

The uniform includes an approved white, gray, or dark green polo shirt; black bottoms; and a gray zip-up hoodie when needed. Please see the Uniform Requirements page for specific options.

Uniforms are not required for social activities outside of the regular class day unless otherwise specified.

What is The Grove's cell phone policy?

Students may bring cell phones to The Grove, but phones must be placed in the designated phone basket during each class.

Students may not take their phones with them on bathroom breaks or secretly use their own or another student's phone during class.

Students may use their phones during designated lunch or study hall periods unless otherwise directed.

How do bathroom breaks work?

Students must use the designated hall pass when leaving class for the restroom and are expected to return promptly.

Bathroom breaks are not a time to socialize, wander the building, or use phones.

Are there any required Biblical studies classes?

No. However, all Grove classes are taught within and respectful of a Christian worldview.

What are the typical class sizes?

Class sizes vary based on the course and enrollment but generally range from approximately 4–20 students.

What if my student needs extra help?

Students or parents should communicate directly with the instructor if a student is struggling or needs additional help.

Are instructors available outside of class?

Each instructor will communicate how and when students may contact them with questions outside of regular class time.

Academic & Transcript Related

Do Grove classes count for high school credit?

As the parent of a homeschooled student, you determine which courses are included on your student's official homeschool transcript and the amount of credit awarded.

The Grove provides instruction and recommended grades, but parents maintain the student's official homeschool records and transcript.

Do instructors give grades?

Yes. Instructors assess student work and provide recommended grades for most academic classes.

Parents, as the student's primary homeschool educators, are responsible for maintaining grades and creating the student's official transcript.

What happens if a student cheats or plagiarizes?

Cheating or plagiarism will result in a zero on the assignment or test. Repeated academic dishonesty may result in additional disciplinary action.

Students may not use artificial intelligence to complete or submit assignments, projects, or tests as their own work unless specifically permitted by the instructor.

Payment & Registration Related

How much does The Grove cost?

When are tuition payments due?

A non-refundable class deposit is due at registration and is applied toward the total tuition for the class.

The remaining balance is divided between the Fall and Spring semesters:

Does The Grove offer payment plans?

Yes. Families may request a payment plan that divides each semester's tuition into four payments throughout the semester.

Payment plans must be arranged with The Grove in advance, and payments must be made by the agreed-upon due dates.

What happens if a payment is late?

A $25 late fee is assessed for each class payment that remains unpaid 30 days after its due date. An additional $25 late fee may be assessed for each additional 30 days the payment remains outstanding.

Past-due accounts may also result in a student being unable to attend classes or Grove activities until the account is brought current.

What is the refund policy?

Students have a three-class add/drop period at the beginning of each semester.

If a student drops a class completely during this period, the class deposit remains non-refundable, but tuition paid beyond the deposit will be refunded.

After the third class day, tuition and fees for the current semester are non-refundable, and families remain responsible for any unpaid balance for that semester.

Families are not financially obligated to continue the class into the following semester.

Can my student switch classes?

During the first three class days of the semester, students may request to change to another available class.

The deposit and tuition already paid will transfer to the new class. If the new class costs more, the family pays the difference. If it costs less, the difference will be refunded.

All class changes are subject to availability and approval by The Grove administration.

Can my student change electives for Spring semester?

Students may request to change elective classes for the Spring semester. Requests must be made before the Spring semester begins and are subject to class availability and approval by The Grove administration.

If the new elective costs more, the family is responsible for the difference. If it costs less, the Spring tuition amount will be adjusted accordingly.

Core academic classes may not be changed between semesters except with approval from The Grove administration.

Behavior & Discipline

What happens if my student breaks a Grove rule?

For ordinary rule violations, The Grove generally uses a three-strike policy. This may include issues such as repeated tardiness, dress code violations, unauthorized phone use, misuse of bathroom breaks, disruptive behavior, ditching class, or repeated failure to follow staff instructions.

A third strike may result in suspension. An additional violation following suspension may result in dismissal from The Grove.

What behaviors can result in immediate suspension?

Serious violations do not have to go through the three-strike process. These may include:

The Grove administration reserves the right to determine appropriate consequences based on the circumstances, the student's disciplinary history, and the safety and well-being of The Grove community.
