Additional Questions

Mission:
The purpose of this group is the idea of fellowshiping as learners and children of God. Koinonia literally means fellowship, partnership or communion, and refers to our bond with God or with fellow Christians. So, as we embark
on a year learning all the physical aspects of our world, we aim for students to enjoy fellowship together in exploration of God’s created world and human discoveries of what He designed.

Format:
Unlike many homeschool co-op groups where parent participation is required, this is not a co-op. No parent participation is required. This is an academic hybrid group where students will be taught in small groups in core content classes and all materials will be assigned for the class.

Parents can use this learning group in two ways:

1. Survey Courses - students attend classes but only complete work that is needed for community learning days (work that will be used for classes).

2. Academic Learning Courses - students attend classes and complete all assigned work in order to fulfill that subject area requirements.

You, as the parent, can make this determination. Work that is needed for community learning days is EXPECTED to be done so students can participate and engage with their peers (Examples would be: reading the literature book, completing projects that will be presented etc.)

Cost/Payment:
Fees:
A family registration fee and 50% of the fall tuition for your family are due with the application to hold your spot. These fees are non-refundable unless there are no spaces remaining.

  • Family Registration Fee: $150 per family
  • The tuition is going to pay the teachers a small amount to cover their time of preparing and teaching each class, as well as supplies for classes and labs. Most of these classes provide hands-on learning using materials and items that need to be purchased.
    - The upper school science classes will be lab learning, which requires all the lab materials to be purchased.

**All teachers teaching content classes have a degree related to that field.

This cost does not cover any materials listed on the course syllabi, which each student will need to bring to the first day of class.

Tuition Per Student

Cost per Year

Cost per Semester
Grades 7-11 $850 $425
Grades K-6 $750 $375

Drop Off Policy:
Students are able to be dropped off during class hours and picked up after. They should bring all their class materials and a bagged lunch for the lunch period. Students must be picked up by the end of the pick-up period or late fees will be given.

  • Drop off time is: 8:40 - 8:55 AM
  • Pick up time: 2:30 - 2:45 PM

Attendance Policy:
Attendance needs to be a priority! The student(s) is taking a spot that could have been otherwise offered to someone else. With that being said, please do your best to attend when possible (illness and trips are understandable), however, the missed work, if for a community learning day, will need to be made up!

Behavior Policy:
This is simply a disclaimer! We love all your children and want to shepherd their minds but also their hearts. There have been times in the past where I may need to correct behaviors (calling out), but also where students have had disagreements or issues at recess or during group activities. We will follow Biblical methods of having students work to reconcile, with my assistance, and will bring parents in when needed. If there are any issues that arise that we do not know of, please let me know as we want everyone to love coming and learning!

Parent Engagement:
Instruction on all subjects listed will be provided by certified teachers, however, the weekly instruction will not be sufficient for your child’s success. Course expectations will be provided and parents will need to be engaged at home with their children in order for them to come to classes prepared and ready to learn.

  Classroom Spaces:
We will be meeting at Faith Bible Fellowship Church of York. The church has been gracious in allowing us to use their building, thus we must respect and care for it! We should expect to use the spaces with freedom to learn and expand knowledge, but will need to put the space back in order at the end of the day.

  Sick Policy:
If anyone in the family that is coming to the learning day has had a fever or throwing up in the past 24 hours, please do not come. If you have a stomach bug/ have been vomiting or if multiple people in your home have had it/ it seems to be spreading throughout some of the family, please keep everyone home. If you or someone in your house has a cold, you are still welcome to come.

Cancellations/Closures:
Under extreme circumstances we may have to cancel classes and utilize one of the sick dates (marked on the calendar) to make up the learning day. For inclement weather, we will let you know as soon as possible after making our best judgment.
If a teacher is sick we will attempt to find a substitute for that teacher (if any parents are willing to be a substitute, please let us know) and will run the day as scheduled.
Homeschool Law/Portfolio Application:
Each class will be coordinated and overseen by a certified teacher. Students will produce subjective and objective work products. Where applicable, grades will be provided for parent information. All work will be returned to students either after the scheduled class or at the culmination of the semester. Grades will be provided with returned work, where applicable. However, all organization of work samples and presentation of the work product into the state approved portfolio will be at the discretion of and by the parent. The goal of assignments will include academic learning, assessment of learning; providing parents with portfolio materials, which demonstrate learning; and enjoyable activities during learning. It is at the parents' complete discretion how any and all work fits into each of these categories at the completion of the school year, in the preparation for evaluations.
